2 Cabins booked--if we upgrade one??

We have two connecting cat 5 cabins booked--DH and myself in one and DD, DSiL, DS and his best firend are booked in the other. DH and I have paid for our cabin and the "kids"--all in their 20s-- are sharing the expense of the other cabin. We had planned on one of the boys sleeping on the sofa bed in our cabin, BUT

DH and I want to try to upgrade ours to a Cat 3 at the port-25th anniversary trip for us.

If we can get the Cat 3, would my DS and friend be permitted to sleep in the Cat 3 cabin with us? This would give everyone a little more privacy, but since they are not booked in our cabin would only the 2 of us be permitted to sleep there? I've read on other threads that Disney doesn't care where you sleep, but I worry about breaking the "rules".

TIA

You will not be breaking any rules, and your family will be welcome to sleep wherever you choose. Even if you don't all sleep in the cat 3, they can come there and enjoy the perks of concierge level.

What will not happen--even if you have a cat 3 that sleeps your entire gang, you'll technically only be upgrading one cabin. You can use the other cabin to store extra suitcases or not use it at all...but you'll get no money back on it if you choose to not use it. You would be keeping one cat. 5 and upgrading one to a 3.

Disney won't care if they sleep there and when you check in you can have them switched to the category 3 if you get it.

Configurations on the category 3s vary, with the handicapped ones only sleeping four (no murphy bed) so that would put two on the sofa bed, and the regular cat 3s (not large midship ones) have the drop down bunk in the bedroom area not the murphy bed in living room so that affects privacy if that's what your looking for. Midship 3 layout would be best with sofa bed and murphy bed in living room.

Only thing you might want to think about in budgeting is tips for us usually run a lot more when we do something similar as we tip higher on the suite and tip for total number sleeping there and still tip on the regular room for however many guests are listed on it.

Thanks

We could not all fit in the Cat 3 --we are six total.

Just thinking, if the boys were to sleep in the upgrade ( pixie dust please) with us, it would allow my DD and DSiL the privace of their own cabin and DH and I would have the bedroom in the Cat 3.

How much extra would I need to budget for additional tips?

Thanks again.
