Hungry Bear

Hi All,

I will be in DL in less than a week and we plan to eat at the Hungry Bear for the first time. My question is where is the best place to sit and why?

Thanks,
Sarah

right along the Rivers of America either on the main floor or on the second deck.
From there you can watch the Canoes (if they are running), ducks swimming by. M Twain and Columbia sailing by....seeing the rafts go over to the island and seeing the people walking on the island...

This is one of our favorite restaurants. My boys love to eat at the upper deck since there is a fantastic view of the water.

When the ships go by they wave at people and there are a lot of happy ducks swimming around.

It is by far one of the most relaxing restaurants to eat at while in DL.

In the summer (due to the heat), the best place to sit is the lower level but right next to the water...you can feed the ducks that way! Other times, it's best to sit on the upper level, on the outside closest to the Rivers of America, so you can see the Mark Twain/Columbia/canoes (if they're out that day) go by!

One of our favorite spots for lunch, the food is okay but the location is nice.

This is now on my list of don't bother places to eat. The location is wonderful, the food is blah. Over the Christmas Holidays we ate there one night out of deperation. It was the only uncrowded place we could find at 6pm. We had hamburgers. They were very underwhelming. Typical amusement park burgers. I don't consider them worth the money. Instead I would take something from somewhere else and sit there. Yeah, I know, kind of out of the way for that but it is a great place to sit.

Our favorite places include Whitewater Snacks at the GCH and Bengal BBQ in DL. Oh, and Riverbelle Terrace has wonderful sandwhiches with some a toppings bar.

This was our experience almost word for word-except I got a turkey sandwich and didn't care for it at all.

There was one plus we discovered, during the winter months, the bathroom downstairs at Hungry Bear was the only bathroom where the water in the faucet came out hot!

Hungry Bear is an OK place to eat but not the best. I'd rather go to Taste Pilot's personally, the burgers there are much better. Of course you can't eat by the water at TPG but the food is so much better.

That said, when we eat at HB (and we do eat there) we like to sit on the lower level by the water, it's a really nice place to sit. But, we've also sat here when we "just" had a few snacks from Pooh Corner, chocolate covered strawberries and Tigger Tails go down so much easier when you're sitting by the water.

APs expired 1-3-2010, the girls are still good until 2-6-2010 but we have no plans for a visit before they expire. No plans for our next visit, it will be 2011 or 2012 before we head back. We've had fun DLR/DCA, we will miss you while we are gone. We took 14 trips from July 07-July 08 and around 16 from Jan 09-Jan 10.

Although, HB did have those funnel cakes that looked pretty good. I wanted to get one of those instead of a burger, but no one would share it with me and there was no way I could eat one by myself. If I could share one, I'd go there to try one.
