Booking last minute?

We've invited some family along on our upcoming trip but they won't know if they can come until about a month before we're set to leave. How big of a risk is it for them to try to book that close to the actual trip? They'll be waiting for their tax return, which they typically get the first weekend in February. They don't have credit cards, so thats not an option.

We're planning to go February 27th - March 4th. We're stay at POP, do you think there will be rooms left?

If they want a room only reservation, could they handle the deposit that would be required now? If so, they could book the room and always cancel if they'll know a month out....

Does a room only reservation have to be paid in full by the 45 day mark?

No, a room only reservation requires a one night deposit and the remainder is paid at the hotel, so no 45 day full payment involved.

Can they add tickets and a dining plan later, once they know for sure that can go (it will be around the 25 day window)? And pay it in full at that time?

Yes, that's what we have done in the past. It has to be added and paid I think 3 or 4 days before arrival.

Ok, great! I think that will probably work out good for them. Stinks that they won't be able to get the free dining offer that we have, but I guess it's something they'll have to deal with since they won't know until so close to the actual trip. Thanks!

Now let's just cross our fingers for them that airline tickets don't skyrocket since they're doing those last minute too.

On a Room Only reservation you can either pay the 1st night deposit right away over the phone or choose to pay it within 7 days of making the reservation. Also should you make a Room Only reservation online then you have no choice to pay the 1st night deposit right away. Finaly the 45 day mark is the deadline for those only package deals to pay their remaining balance.

If they can pay a deposit, have them book it now because there may not be a room later. The deposit would be $118.13 for rack rate for that time frame.

Just make sure you emphasize that if they do want to add dining it HAS to be done (and paid for) by at least 3 days before the trip!! Have fun!!

Our last package was booked on Saturday to start on Tuesday. We did have a room only reservation from Sunday to Tuesday but that was made on Thursday. It may take a little looking but it should be possible. That doesn't seem to be a busy time either.
