Online check in and room assignments - The DIS Discussion Forums

Just wondering if when you do online check in they assign you your room at that point, or if they wait until your arrival. Trying to figure out if doing online check in gives you and advantage with room requests.

Rooms are assigned close to your arrival.

I debated this when we were checking in three weeks ago (been home since Friday

) - I opted to just check in when we got there since it was at night. They already had a room assigned to us even without online check in. We changed it anyhow - whenever we check in (this was at OKW), if I don't like our original room assignment, we will make the poor CM hunt to see what else is available until we are happy with our room. AFter all, we are spending two weeks there and I want to be happy every time I sit outside on my wonderful balcony! If you're checking in at a busy time (like a Sunday morning) I would do the online check in and then just ask for a room change if you're not happy with your assigned location.
