Taking the Bus to Resort Hotels from Non-Resort Hotels

Hello Everyone,

So one of my favorite things to do at WDW is go hotel hopping, like in Vegas. I usually stay in one of the Official Resorts, but I got a great deal at the Royal Plaza, which is near Downtown Disney and is an "Official WDW Resort Hotel" according to the website.

So, I thought initially, no worries. We just hop on the bus from Downtown Disney and go wherever. Most of the hotel shuttles stop there.

But now suddenly it occurs to me to ask....can we actually do that? Will they let us take a bus to say, the Wilderness Lodge, from a park or Downtown if we don't have an official room key? It's been awhile, I can't remember how it works. We'll have Park Hoppers. And the Plaza claims to be an "official" resort.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Similiar Question and a Thought

I know that during park hours you take a bus to a park and switch. For instance From Pop Century to Boardwalk, Take a bus to EPCOT and then take a bus from EPCOT to Boardwalk.

My Question:

If we are at the Boardwalk late at night for one of the clubs, How to we get back to Pop Century late at night?

You don't need a room key to ride the buses to and from resorts, except on selected late-nights when heightened security is in effect or perhaps early in the morning to an early extra magic hours park.

From resort to resort including from Boardwalk with all its activities, you need to change buses at a park or at Downtown Disney. Last buses out of Downtown Disney have been at 2 AM although this may have changed whdn Pleasure Island closed.

As far as walking or taking a hotel's shuttle from Hotel Plaza Blvd. to Downtown Disney, you will need to change buses (again,) at a resort after boarding a Disney bus at DTD to get to a park.

yep.. can't take a bus from downtown disney to a park, but can take it to a resort.

Elmo007- I don't believe there are any busses from Epcot to Boardwalk. I think you have to go through epcot and go out the back entrance into the Boardwalk.

Since Pleasure Island closed, Disney has been offering bus service from the Boardwalk to other resorts so late night patrons at Jellyrolls or Atlantic Dance can get "home."
