Lightbulb Santa's Little Helper Thread: help Santa find discontinued and obscure toys!

I am having some difficulties finding some items my DS wants for Christmas this year, (we start early so Mommy doesn't have to deal with the MAAADD people come Dec.)
So I figured I would start a thread for other parents/grandparents/ect. in the same boat. Maybe if we list the items we are in desperate need for on here, a fellow DISser may be able to help us out. Who knows what people have stashed in their closets, that can save someone's day!!!!

I have managed to find the Zhu Zhu Pets my DDs wanted, and thought my headache this Christmas season would be over. Then my dear, dear, DS sprung his little list on me. He is only 3 and he seems to get interested in things that seem to be on their way out, instead of new stuff. The toys he wants have been out for a few years, so they are nearly impossible to find. I need the following:

1) Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Toodles ears (plastic set of red & yellow ears that play the HOT DOG song.)
2) Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Mickey toy (sings HOT DOG song when you press his hand, wearing jeans, tennis shoes w/ L & R on them, and a red hoodie with MMCH logo, he's about 13-14" tall) I think he was called Learn to Dance Mickey but not sure. His cousin has one that he packs with him everywhere and DS loves it. I have showed DS the NEW dancing Mickey at TRU but he doesn't want it, he wants the old kind..
3) Talking Stitch doll, my DS loves Stitch, (So do I, but I promise this toy is for him and not me, never mind that I will be playing with it during DS's naptime ) The best one I have been able to find (most suitable for a 3 year old) is the Aloha Stitch by Hasbro, talks and says about 30 different phrases.
(I would love to have these still in boxes, but gently used would be fine too, Santa is in DESPERATE need of these, and so far E-bay has been no help- unless he wants to sell one of his elves to get them! ) I'll pay the price if I have to, but I thought I would see if any of the nice people on here can help me first.

What a nice idea! But just remember that there can be no money changing hands between members of the DIS.

That means that you cannot sell your NIB or gently used items to one another.

You cannot link to your eBay auction.

You cannot offer to purchase and ship an item to another member in exchange for money or its equivalent even if it isn't at a "profit".

You can help with the names of commercial websites where a member can get a hard-to-find item.

You can tell others of a B&M store that has the sought-after item.

You can send your gently used or NIB item to another member for free and out of the goodness of your heart.

Once again, NO MONEY CHANGING HANDS IS PERMITTED!!! I cannot stress this enough! Any semblance of that kind of activity will end an otherwise informative thread!

Just keep trying amazon and ebay. My DD wanted Krypto toys last year and they had not made them in several years and many people had brand new ones on Amazon. I paid so so prices a little more tham what full retail was but not by much.

Good Luck - I know exactly how you feel.

Sorry, I don't want to do anything wrong on here. (Sorry if I offended anyone) I love the DIS, everyone on here has always been so helpful. I guess I'm just not up on all the rules, my bad (smacks own hand).

We could still do this though without anyone buying anything. Maybe we could trade some items, or do a pay it forward kind of thing. Somebody sends someone something they need, in exchange that person does it for the next one. I just want (need!!!) some help, and in exchange I would be willing to help someone else (my kids have lots of stuff that someone else may need), who knows. I know I can't be the only one pulling their hair out about what their kids want for the Holidays.

I have seen discontinued/older toys at:

* Burlington Coat Factory

* Big Lots

* TJ Maxx

* Homegoods

* Marshalls

Also, don't forget your wonderful neighborhood Craigslist....happy hunting!

OP- I haven't seen anything posted on your list lately, but wanted to wish you luck. DD8 has a DSi with Tinkerbell game, TV for her room and her own computer on her wish list I am pretty sure Santa isn't going to be bringing her any of those. I thought her wish list was bad, but I guess that a wish list of outdated toys could be worse....

I will keep my eyes peeled. I love a good hunt!

Last year my DD wanted a Little Mermaid Sebastian bath tub toy. Santa looked EVERYWERE and didn't find one. She also wanted a Sleeping Beauty Maleficient doll. That one was tricky, but I, er, Santa finally found a Barbie doll costume that worked. Whew!

Can the moderators let us know if the pin trade is OK?

I think I have the Toodles head-band thing in our "gift-bag" at home. I'll have to check when I get home tonight. We buy things on clearance and then use them as gifts or donate them to Make A Wish. I definitely don't want to get in trouble with the boards, but if I have it, I would be willing to work out a trade. Moderators, please let us know if this is OK before we discuss further.

Great idea OP! If anyone can point me in the right direction toward a DC Super Friends Bat Wing (the big one that the action figures sit in) that is not triple the original price I and DS would be very happy.

DD10 has a Stitch that talks and does the luau. She has had it for several years, but I'm pretty sure it came from WDW. No way she would part with hers, but you might call Disney merchandising to see if they still have it in the parks.

One place where I find interesting Disney toys is Walgreen's. Today I picked up a package of five Tinker Bell and fairies lip glosses and five body glitters that will become stocking stuffers. They also had the lip glosses and body glitters with the princesses, as well as Tinker Bell and MMCH puzzles I hadn't seen anywhere else. There were some other MMCH toys, but I didn't pay them much attention. Sometimes I can find things at CVS that I haven't seen at places like Wal-Mart or Target.

That would be awesome.
From what I understand, as long as $$$$ doesn't change hands all is good. Someone please verify this for me!!!! I would be willing to send you something, if you have the Toodles, just PM me and we can work something out.

Perditia, Thanks for the list of stores. I have been hunting TJ Maxx weekly for the last month, and I hadn't thought of Big Lots, but we have one about 30 miles from here. You better believe I will be making a trip there this week, as far as the other 3 stores, we don't have any in our area.

Maddi, that would be a great idea, but we also don't have a Disney store, they closed ours years ago and now the closest one is like 3 hours away, so I don't think I could get any pins from there for trade, and I have heard too many warnings about buying them from e-bay. I don't know enough about them, and my luck I would end up getting a bunch of fakes. The only pins I have from our trip last year are DD's and they would kill me if I got into them.

If anyone has what I'm looking for though, I will bend over backwards to try to find SOMETHING to trade you.

, Thanks for all the responses, hopefully this thread will help somebody even if it's not me.
