LAST Day at WDW: How Do You Handle It?

Okay, so you've gone on vacation to WDW . . . and nothing is better than the first day with all of that warm and cozy "knowing" that you have all your vacation days ahead of you. You begin to count each minute because you so desparately want to savor each precious moment . . . you've waited so long for this vacation, and now it is finally here . . .

. . . and now it is your last day at Disney, and it has indeed been WONDERFUL . . . and the days passed by oh so quickly -- way too quickly . . . and now it is almost over. (No tears, please . . . or on second thought never mind, go ahead and cry.) Help:

What do you do to make the last day (or night) special?

What do you do to keep from getting depressed?

What, oh, WHAT DO YOU DO?

Make sure I already have my next trip booked!!

And staying for 2 weeks has really helped me with the Disney blues. Honestly after 2 weeks, we are ready to go home and sleep in our own beds and get back to real life.

The last day, before we leave, we usually go to MK one last time. Then we'll have lunch at our resort, walk around a little bit, and then head out.

Sorry, I have no solution to the post-Disney depression. But it does help to have another trip in the planning stages!

and this year that last day

is coming WAAAY too fast!! For a variety of reasons out of my control, our usual 7n/8d Mother/Daughter trip will only be 4n/5d. The plane will barely land before that dreaded DME envelope is hanging on my door!

We go for two weeks, and the last day is split among all of the parks...

On Saturday there was a little girl about 7 in the seat in front of me on the bus in tears b/c it was their last day and they were leaving the park. It broke my heart, I wanted to cry with her b/c I know that feeling all to well.

Yesterday we hit AK for one last EE and Epcot for one last ride on TT, then convince DH to upgrade to AP's so I know I'll be coming back within the year! My Disney depression start diminishing the second I had those little tickets in my hand.

Honestly, nothing makes me feel better on the last day.

We are fortunate enough to visit every few months & I always have at least the next 3 trips in the works. I know how many days until I'll be back.

Doesn't matter. DH calls me Louie on the last day... as in "Louie the Lip" because I pout.

My DD8 still cries whenever we are heading home. Last year was the first year that we took DME, so it didn't start to hit her that we were actually home until after we stepped into our front door.

For me, I feel sort of an emptiness inside. After months and months and extreme stress over the whole planning stage, once it is over with, I don't know what to do with myself. Luckily on our last day, we have a 7:15pm flight out so we plan on going to O'hana's for breakfast then heading over to Boardwalk and walk around then it is lunch at Captains Grille. After that, we may go to DTD, or whatever suits us at that moment....we are leaving it totally open and up to the girls.

I usually look forward to getting home and seeing DH (doesn't come every trip) and the doggies, kicking back at home watching my shows on DVR from the week, and resting my tired feet! But after all that, I inevitably start thinking about when we can go again. In fact, we don't go till Nov, and I'm already thinking about when we can go again after that. DD wants to stay there forever, and I try to explain to her that Disney is only so special to us because we only get to go after we work hard at work and school and saving and that is our reward. I try to think of it that way, too.

During our last trip and then again for this one, (maybe we are forming a tradition??? ) we spent/are spending our last night at the HDDR. Then we go back to the resort, sleep, wake up and have breakfast at the resort and head out for the airport.

I savor each and every minute, and the day before I go I think about the end of the trip and say I'm so glad I'm not there yet. I boo hoo when I leave the park for the last time, my DH thinks I'm nuts. As we're leaving I always turn around to get one last look at the main road we're on at take it all in for the last time. I get home, and like someone else said, I just don't know what to do with myself. I've spent months planning and getting all the info I need for our trip and when it's over what do I do?
For me it's too early to start planning our next trip, I like to either spend a couple of weeks or do special things on our trips, so I have to save for a couple of years to be able to do what I want when we get there. So I lurk around the boards, go to the Disney site, and help others with questions like this. It makes me feel better if I can add a little magic to someone elses trip. Hope this helps.

Around our house our last day is called our "sad day". Its even on our itinarary that way!! I don't see tears any longer, but we are all just bummed. I have tried the "don't be sad because its ending...stuff", but lets face it, leaving stinks!!!!

I just try to make every second count.

It is happy tears on the way in, and unhappy tears on the way out....

I used to leave on the last day, around 12 noon, that means I would check out at 10 and be at the airport for my 1pm flight...than I got SMART! I would book my return flight around 5 or 6 and hit a park on the VERY LAST day...head to Hotel, pick up luggage and get on ME for Airport...its a lot better than sitting around waiting to go Home!
