ID for bday fun card has maiden name, park pass has married name

We're headed to WDW in a couple of days (actually won't be there til Friday but taking our time getting there, stopping a couple of places). We'll be there on my b-day (Sept. 19) and I already have multi-day hopper passes, so I was planning to get the bday fun card. My question is this: my driver's license will be my ID, and it has my maiden name on it; my park pass has my married name on it. Will this be a problem? I have my social security card and birth certificate also if they need it (SSC has married name on it). I could dig out my marriage license and go to the DL bureau to get it changed before I leave, but I really don't want to unless I have to.

Well, you have to change it anyway, don't you? Might as well get it done now. Otherwise you could be using someone else's stuff. Theoretically.

Technically, you don't have to change your last name just because you got married. It is just more convenient to have everything in one name, whatever name you choose to use. Since you already changed your SS, you may want to update you DL, but, at least in PA, you won't get a new DL, just another card to carry around with it till your license expire & renewal. That is a pain.

I would be more worried about updating DL to married name if that is the name you are using on checks & credit cards since your ID would have to match those.

of course you don't HAVE to change the name. But it only gets difficult to use two different names, as the OP obviously did.

I know a little bit about this...

I now hyphanate my name (per DS#1 request when he started school), but I kept my maiden name for years. During this time, I found that people kept changing it for me (). I also find that now (especially at Disney for some reason), people will drop half of it--or combine it into some other weird name (again, ).

Most of the time, when people see the hyphanated name on my drivers license, they can figure it out. Some people are complete idiots though and can't. For them, I just carry a copy of my marriage certificate. I find this especially convienent when I've booked a reservation under a pin code at Disney. The line "I've just gotten married not too long ago" also works quite well.

I am thinking that Disney will accept your original Drivers licencse, and your park ticket and a photocopoy of your bmarriage license, you probably won't be asked to show the third.

One of my friends from work is getting married & leaving the next day for Disneymoon. She, of course, will still have her maiden name on her DL even though she will then have her new married name on the reservation. I am sure Disney knows that people get married and don't get all the paperwork done the same day, or even for a few month, or more, after. Her tickets will be on her KTTW card with her married name.

When you got your ticket did you have to show ID? I'm a FL resident so we always have to show ID when buying tickets. Reason I ask is because that is the only problem I see, "how did you get the ticket with your married name if no ID"? I would maybe email guest services and ask them. If you get a doubting Thomas they might say "how do we know you don't have a friend name Jane Doe, and your name is Jane John, and that you are just using her ticket" I am not insinuating this I just giving you possible scenarios. I do this because once at Pop a lady handed the CM 10 tickets and asked him how many days were left on each ticket, he was a Doubting Thomas and asked her where she got them. That is was against Disney rules to transfer tickets. She told him they were from previous trips and that she always forgot to bring them.

I think you should go to DL bureau and change your name, it seems the easiest solution, why let something like this possibly ruin your vacation? The whole way you will wonder "am I going to have a problem with my ticket" if you change the name there will be no worries. On mine I have first name, maiden name, and married name.

Why don't you just take a copy of your marriage license with you? I have friends who do this when flying all the time - I don't see why Disney would be any different.

I'm thinking this might be the best solution. I don't mind going to the DL bureau to have it changed, but I'm trying to figure out where to fit it in since I have work, Scouts, soccer practice, and packing for 4 people for 10 days to do in the next two days.
