Cruising on Christmas

We've cruised DCL 4 times so far (twice on each ship), but we have never sailed on Christmas day. We've just put a deposit on the December 23rd sailing on the Wonder and are wondering (pun intended) what they do on Christmas day to celebrate? Has anyone ever sailed on Christmas day?

Santa was there and gave out gifts to the kids.
The decorations are wonderful, and they have a special Christmas dinner.
The crew lined the atrium stairs and sang Christmas carols.

Trying to think what else there was......I know we had a lot of special decorations in our room, and hung stockings for the kids. Yes, Santa found them at sea!

We were in St Maartin Christmas Day, so we were not on the ship the whole time to see what was going on. Decorations were beautiful everywhere, including Castaway that week. Did see Santa Goofy, all characters in their "Christmas" attire. We had a special gift in our stateroom. since this was our first cruise, not sure if that was normal, or if it was for the holidays.

We're cruising on the Wonder too on 23rd December for Christmas

Hi there

We are cruising at Christmas too. Can't wait, this is our 4th cruise, but it's our first one at Christmas, we are getting very excited.

I had read some information on the internet that Santa Goofy hands out gifts to the children on Christmas morning by the Christmas tree in the atrium.

Some of the family activities were decorating your own gingerbread house and making/decorating christmas stockings which I thought sounded great.

I am glad that we are at sea on Christmas Day, I don't think it would have been the same if we had been on Nassau or Castaway Cay, and I am hoping there will be fantastic activities and I think one of the posts said there was a special Christmas show in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Regards.

On Christmas eve after dinner, there were cookies and milk to take back to your cabin and set out for Santa.

The line for a gift from Santa was always long. It never got shorter. Either stand in line or just go to the Excursion desk and get the gift. Last year's gift was a Pixar calendar.

I beleive the special gift was for Christmas. We received one as well. I won't say what is was to avoid ruining the surprise for everyone - plus it may be different. We were on this cruise in 2007. We had a great time. We had a gift exchange with all our friends on-board. There's not a whole lot of info on here, but here is my daughter's trip report... she was 13 at the time. Her report is in Red Mine is in blue the original plan is in black. Enjoy your cruise.

I'm going to be on that cruise too!! I cannot WAIT!! It'll be myself and my DH and then my mom and my baby sister!!

We have a cruise meet thread going if you want to join:

Oh, and for our cruise, we'll be on Castaway Cay on the 25th...I think I'd have rather had Christmas on the at sea day, but I still think it'll be lovely! I'm brining this tiny little Mickey tree, our stockings, a Christmas themed fish extender, blah blah blah. :-)

Hey there! I've been following this thread b/c I wanted to hear all the fun stuff going on for the holidays since we'll be on the Magic over Christmas...saw your post about being at CC on Christmas day, and wanted to let you know that I have heard that the Wonder will be at sea on Christmas day and the Magic will be at CC. If I can find the thread where I recently asked that question, I'll post it. So, if you wanted the day at sea on Christmas, looks like you'll have it!!!

We're on the Dec 23rd Wonder cruise for 2010 & looking forward to it! We've sailed 3 times on the Magic, and done Hawaii for Christmas, but this will be our first Wonder cruise, as well as our first Christmas cruise!

You might want to keep an eye out on Christmas day - my guess is that the Wonder will do a "sail by" Castaway Cay. There might even be a horn serenade. Keep your cameras handy.
