7 Months of Planning.... Out the window

So, I have been planning our two week trip for ever.... We were originally planning on using ME and onsite transportation.

We are staying at SSR and requested the grand stands section so we could get right on the bus.

Well, I found a rental car deal for $240 total including all taxes for the entire two weeks. I couldn't pass it up.

So, now I want to know location reccomendations. I would like a great view and nice surroundings. Are all the locations near where you park your car?

Since we have a car I am assuming that we will drive everywhere except MK.

I don't see anything you mention as being an issue.

All of the SSR buildings are within easy walking distance of both bus stops and the parking lot.

I think the next time we visit Saratoga Springs I would request Congress Park and ask for a DTD view.

Which company did you get the great car hire deal from?

Just curious but...... how does this equate to "7 Months of Planning.... Out the window?"

We planned everything around not having a car. Location of the resort, dining places, parks, everything.

Unless you are going offsite, why would you spend the money on a car, regardless of price. It's money you don't need to spend. Of course, if you want the offsite option, disregard my comment.

Car or not, I would stay with the Grandstand section.

We have only been to WDW 4 times, 2 without a car and 2 with. It only took a couple of times standing in line waiting for a bus........... waiting for another bus because the 1st one was full..... waiting until the handcapped got their scotters on..... for us to spend the extra money on a car. Did I mention not missing any more ADR's or using valet service for the ADR's. Did I mention taking the ferry to the Tranfer station and then walking a couple of blocks to Poly's parking lot and not having to wait for the monorail lines to get down to me?

Maybe not a car for you but for me..... I will rent a car any day unless the rates are tooooo high, which they are very close to right now.

I have heard from SSR it is quicker to use a car to go everywhere except MK. For those who use a car what do you do about visiting the MK? Any other car tips?

I like buses to the MK, and drive almost everywhere else.

First of all, WAY TO GO!! We always rent a car, and are far better off for it. We drive everywhere, including the MK. I would suggest requesting a room in the Congress Park section of SSR with a Downtown Disney view. Most people don't realize it, but there is a back entrance/exit at SSR and Congress Park is the closest section to it. There is a gate, but no guard, so make sure you have your room key with you at all times. You can clearly see it on the resort map directly under the resort logo and room number section. (It's located on 'Broadway'.) Have a great time!!

Thanks!! Do you find that taking your car to MK can slow you down when you have to take the monorail or boat?

DVC members get free valet parking (not including tip) at resorts that have DVCs attached to them. The resorts where you can valet park free are BLT/CR, BCV/YC/BC, BWV/BWI, VWL/WL & AKV/AKL. You can park to visit the resort and for any dining you are doing there but not for leaving your car to go to a park (unless of course, it is the resort you are booked at); some are not aware of this.

Bus is probably a better alternative to MK from SSR if you want to avoid parking at MK lot and then tram over to TTC for monorail or ferry.
