Question about TS entree: could you get an appetizer as your entree?

I have read here that while you can't substitute a dessert for an appetizer on the basic DDP, you are allowed to get one of the appetizers as your entree.

Is this still allowed? Will a restaurant give you the typical appetizer portion that is normally served, or are they willing to make an entree out of it? Can you get an appetizer sampler as your entree?

I'm curious because of Kouzzina. While we would like to try it and it is very convenient to BWV, most of the entrees are made with fennel, and fennel is one of 2 foods I absolutely despise and literally come close to gagging if I put it in my mouth (even if a dish has some flavor of fennel, and also the fennel seeds in sweet Italian sausage...I can't eat sweet Italian sausage at all!). In case anyone is interested, the other food I despise is cantaloupe (the only fruit I really won't eat besides raspberries because I am allergic). However, some of the appetizers look good at Kouzzina, in particular the sampler and the spanakopita (spinach pie which I absolutely LOVE and can make a meal of if it is a decent portion).

So, do TS restaurants allow this and has anyone ever done this before...what is the portion size like? Would it be better to order an extra side dish or a salad to supplement, then I get my dessert so then it would be enough food, if they don't make it in an entree-sized portion?

The answer to all your questions is, "It depends on the restaurant, the server, the manager, the time of year, how busy it is, whether there's been a recent shift in policy, the phase of the moon, and possibly how you phrase the question."

Thank you! Since we have a few more TS meals scheduled than actual TS credits, maybe we will just pay OOP for Kouzzina and make it an appetizer meal. DH and I could share a few things, and the kids could get what they want from the children's menu. Then we can head to BW Bakery and use a snack credit on dessert!

Have you considered calling the restaurant and asking to speak to a chef? You could just explain that you have an aversion to fennel and ask if there is any way they can prepare something else for you. I keep hearing good things about asking for alternative entrees for vegetarians and food allergies, it couldn't hurt to ask right?

Thank you for the suggestion, but DH and I were discussing Kouzzina and we decided not to go there for dinner on our next trip. We might try it for breakfast, though. There are many more things there that appeal to me for breakfast than for dinner, so I won't feel so limited. We do love Greek food, and we eat it all the time at a local place we go to, so it's not like I don't get to eat great Greek food, and so I don't feel like I am missing out. Kouzzina is just very convenient since we stay at Boardwalk Villas, but there are so many other restaurants in that area so we have plenty of other choices! In fact, we are going to head over to Yacht Club one evening for dinner at Captain's Grille, and we are going to Beach Club to try the Cape May Cafe dinner as well as the character breakfast on the last morning of our trip, just before we head out.
