My current 5X reward applies to grocery, gas, dining and airfare.

I do remember one of the 5X promotions I got last year had drug store instead of airfare.

Wow, this really isn't good for those of us who have to spend $1000 BEFORE they start to give any credits. What in the world? I might be putting airline tickets on tomorrow, but that will probably be around $500, then I have to spend at least another $500 on groceries (my stores, Foodlion, Safeway, Superfresh all come up "other") and gasoline. And then lets say I spend 1001 dollars, I only get the 1 dollar at 5x's. This is a joke. How can people spend that much money on just those four things and expect to hit a grand a month (without being able to use Walmart ).

I signed up , but now I think I won't bother trying. If I buy my airline tickets on my Amex card they will give me $100 off. I am really dissappointed.

Oh does anyone know if the dining plan counts as dining purchases? We are buying the dining plan when we go to Disney in November. We will be paying for it at check in because we are DVC members and that is how it works. Anyone know if this is included?

I am also bummed that fast food isn't included. Thats dining! Not healthy dining, but we are still eating!

Hi we were one of the lucky ones and our offer has no theshold and can charge anythingI was thinking of putting our morgage on the card but they will charge me 15.00 would you still do it? our morgage is $1100.00 so times 3 would be $3300.00= 165 points minus the fees of $45.00. Do it or not? We will pay off in full when the bill comes. I already put some of our bills on that did not have a fee to pay with the credit card.

I wouldn't. It's not worth spending $45 to get 165 rewards dollars if you can max out your bonus dollars without doing that.

If you're like me, you have a cap of 200 Dream Rewards Dollars for the Oct-Nov-Dec period. Check the fine print on your offer for details. It basically amounts to $5000 in spending over a 3-month period.

With everything that I put on this card (including holiday purchases, a ton of birthdays between now and Christmas, DD19 is having oral surgery this week, my final payment on my trip is due, etc), I will definitely hit that maximum amount easily. It might pay off for you to figure out how much you will spend without doing the mortgage payments on the card before you do use the CC to pay it.

Walmart or Target gift cards?

Anyone have any luck finding these?

I've been to most of our local gas stations & grocery store chains.
Only Sears & Home Depot.

We have Safeway/Genuardi's in this area and they carry Target GCs in their Gift Card Mall. I didn't check for Walmart GCs because I rarely shop there and the GC would just sit in my purse forever. The selections do seem to vary from store to store. I can buy McDonald's and Panera's GCs at the one location but the other one doesn't seem to carry them.

Typically it is you need to spend $1000 to qualify, then they will give you the bonus on all purchases in those catageories, not just purchases over the $1000 in those catagories. I had a 5x bonus on $750 spend in dining, air, hotel, grocery for April-June and July-Sept. Since July I have earned about $100 Disney reward dollars and I mainly use it for gas, groceries and some clothing.

Ok, so I got the card in the mail, here is what it says:

REWARDS, MATEY!
EARN 5X Disney Dream Reward Dollars on eligible purchase from 10/1/2009 through 12/31/2009

For every eligible dollar you spend above $250 each month, you'll accumulate Disney Dream Dollars at 5X the regular rate. 2,3 ( Since none of the small print mentions any specific categories I need to purchase, I believe that it is for everything I purchase will count.

Now, under 2 and 3 in small print, it says you DO NOT earn rewards toward balance transfers, cash advances, using their checks, money orders, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent purchases or fees of any kind.

It says my maximum bonus reward accumulation during this promotion is 200 bonus Disney Dream Reward Dollars, which equates to $5000 total over the specified hurdle.

It also says to be eligible for this offer, you had to have a credit card account opened before APRIL 1, 2009. (so that may be why some people did not get this.)

It says the bonus rewards will be reflected on your monthly credit card statement approx 6 to 8 weeks from the month in which the transaction posts to your credit card statement and /or from the time you have enrolled in the program.

So, this is how I am going to use it. I will buy all the things I normally use my debit card for this card. Once I know I hit the $250 mark, I will make a large purchase. Now this is going to be my big purchase for the month. I will buy a DISNEY GIFT CARD from the disney store to cover our Dining Plan fees for our January visit. Since I am a DVC member, I can't purchase it before I arrive, and since it is in January, it wouldn't count, but if I buy the gift card, I get the bonus, and I will have more rewards to use on our trip.

I will also make sure to pay my DVC annual dues by December 31, 2009 and this way I will have another large purchase and credit. Not sure it will all clear by the time we go in Jan for 3 nights, but it will definately come in handy for our August trip.

I was even thinking of buying a multiday park pass through the mousesavers link and just put it in my safe deposit box, since everyone knows the prices of tickets will definately go up. I do this every once in a while anyway, so when we do decide to go for a quick visit, the only thing I need to worry about is airfare and food.

Last year I got this too, but it was only good if I spent over $2500 a month! YIKES, who does that?

No, you need to get over that "hurdle" that Chase sets for you by spending in those select categories each month. Then you receive the bonus on all purchases in those select categories that are over and above the hurdle.

For example, let's say that your hurdle is $750 in gas, groceries, airfare and dining.
  • In October you buy airline tickets for $700 and spend another $500 on groceries. You would receive the 5X bonus on $450 - the amount that you spent in October in those categories that was above $750.
  • Then, let's say in November you pay off your trip to the tune of $1200 and buy another $500 in groceries. You would get zero bonus dollars because you didn't go over the hurdle for your select categories.
  • And finally, let's say that in December you spent $500 in groceries and another $250 in gasoline plus $800 at Sears. You still will not get any bonus dollars because even though you met the hurdle, you did not spend anything more than that in the select categories.

ok, so I have the card in front of me. The website is MyChaseBonus.com/Disney42

However, I think you will need the ENROLLEMENT CODE and the last four digits of the credit card number.

There is a phone number to call, if you can get your husband to call

1888 492-1981

Do what I do, get the credit card company on the phone, give them all the information about your husband's credit card. Tell them you are his wife, and he wants to add you as person on the card to be able to call and talk about the account. (I have my own credit cards, he has his own, we don't share accounts), however I am the person to do ALL THE BILL PAYING, so I occasionally need to talk to them.

Only do this when your husband is home. They will then ask to speak to him, he can confirm everything you said, and then you won't have to deal with this again.

Good Luck!

PS. I just bought Disney Gift cards online, instead of driving to the Disney Store, and they are shipping them for free, Got one for my mom and dad for Christmas present for their April trip. So I just made $5 rewards dollars for their $100 gift card, and $30 for my $600 in cards to pay for our meal plan this January.

Not everyone has been offered the 5X rewards, so it's not like you can just call to sign up for them. But there is a chance that you were sent the offer and you have just not received it yet. Call the customer service number on your statement and ask.

Unfortunately, you will need to enter your unique PIN code when you register online. That PIN code would have been on the postcard you received. Try calling customer service to see if they can help you.

Just call and talk in a man voice and say your him! You will get it done AND crack yourself up! BUT you do need the enrollment code unless they let you do it by talking to a real person!
