How long of a walk is it from HS to Boardwalk?
Is it feasible to walk from HS to Boardwalk for lunch & then walk back to HS for the remainder of the day? Approximately how long of a walk is it? I assume it is do-able if there is a path.
I'd rather walk than play the bus game. ![]() Thank you!

I am not sure how far exactly it is, but its about a 10 minute walk. You know you can also take the Friendship boats which are very easy and quite fast. I don't think it will be any problem to walk or boat over to the boardwalk for lunch and go back to HS.
Good Luck! |

If you do take the boat, it's faster to get off at the first stop (Swan & Dolphin) & just walk across the little bridge to the BW.

My "rule of thumb" is if the boat isn't docked and loading at HS I just walk. You can make the walk in less time than it takes for the boat to dock, passengers to disembark, passengers to board, and it to get to the BoardWalk.

That walk, from DHS gate to BW eateries is around 15 minutes. The boat to Swan Dolphin takes 7-8 minutes of travel time. It is quicker to boat to S/D, then walk over, unless a wait for the boat at the DHS is also involved. In that case, the walking path to BW would be quickest.

They say the recipe for Sprite is lemon and lime, but I tried to make it at home....There's more to it than that!

I always walk, regardless of where the boat might be. We have left the BW when the boat was at the dock, and when we got to DHS, it was not even in sight in the canal. Same thing goes in reverse...

And you can always walk one way and take the boat the other way.
Not sure where you're planning on having lunch at the BW though. I never thoguht the options were very good. Unless it's changed, I think it's just ESPN and Big River Brewing. Maybe that new Cat Cora place is serving lunch (Spoodles did back in the day) but I don't know. |

I have walked this before but always wondered how far it really was so I looked it up.
From the Boardwalk sign (end next to Swan and Dolphin) area to HS it appears on maps to be roughly 1,400 yards which converts to be just under .8 mile. BW itself appears to be around 375 yards long.

Funny Story: We were headed to HS from BWV and DF forgot his park hopper so he went back to the room got the hopper and we were just pulling away towards yacht club when he got back. So he started walking (after a smart comment about he would still beat us there) only he was headed to Epcot. So we called him and said where are you going we are going to Studios. So he quickly turned around and started walking back to BW (he was already past EsPN ZOne) He was trying to prove a point so he was almost running but still walking as the whole boat watched and laughed. When we got to the boat dock at Studios he was sitting on the bench next to the dock acting as if he had been there for hours. (Actually only a few seconds) Everyone was laughing but the moral of the story is.... It's quicker to walk even if you forget your hopper and head halfway to EPCOT

nice walk
Walk, don't take the boat. It's a short 10 minute walk to BW and best of all it's one of the least crowded areas of in all of WDW. DH and I walked back to BCV from HS on our one year anniversary and it was the only time during our entire trip with my family that we spent some quality alone time just walking and talking. It sounds silly, but of everything we did that day, that was one of the clearest, most enjoyable memories.

We enjoyed the walk, and took our time. Probably took us about 20 min or so at a slower pace.

Robo, thank you for the map. I'm going to print it & take it with me.
Thanks to the rest of you for your help as well. We were thinking of having lunch at the bakery or getting pizza, just in case we don't like the food at DHS. The only place we've ever eaten at there was the BD, which was great, but I'm looking for CS this time.
