Question about Selling DVC

We're in the process of buying a new home and after evaluating everything have decided that we're going to sell our contract. Initially, we were just going to rent our points out and actually did this this year and the family who bought the points is going to Disney on January 1st. Do we need to wait until after their trip to list it with the Timeshare Store?

I'm so upset to have to make this decision but know that it is for the best for us right now. Hopefully we can buy another contract in the future.

Thanks for your help!

You can (and probably should) go ahead and list it. As long as it doesn't close until after January 1 the rental reservation will remain intact. Just make sure that the listing notes that closing cannot be until January 2 or later.

I'd just call the Timeshare Store and they can advise the best way to approach this - they are well versed in dealing with these situations.

Sorry you need to sell, but good luck with the process.

You do not need to wait. They will just list that the contract can't close after your renter's check out date in January.

I had the same situation. We had a trip scheduled for August on the contract. We put it for sale in April and had an offer within a day. I was told that there are buyers out there who look for contracts with delayed closing at it gives them time to put together the funds.

We used TSS and they were great! Everything went along fine and the day after we returned, the contract closed and within a week after that, we got our check.

All posters are correct. We can certainly list your property now stating in the listing that the property cannot close until after the January reservation is complete.

Just call The Timeshare Store, Inc.® and we would be happy to answer any questions for you, list the property and begin looking for a buyer of your membership.
