Talking Halloween Horror Nights

My younger sister and I are surprising our oldest sister with tickets to Universals Halloween Horror Nights on the 18th of October. We have never been but are very excited to go!

Has anyone else been to this? What is your experience? Any tips you might be able to offer? Is it imperative to get there right at 6:30? Alright, I know, to many questions! We just a wee bit excited to go!

We have gone every year since 2001 and absolutely love it!!! If you love being scared then you are going to have a great time.

If you are going to be in the park before hand I strongly suggest doing the stay and scream which lets you stay in the park when it closes and you get to do a few of the houses before they reopen for everyone.

If not then I would recommend:

1) Make sure you get an express pass because the lines can get as long as 120 minutes for some of the houses.

2) If you are going just for horror nights you want to make sure you are there before 6:30 because the lines to get in are very long and you could easily be in line for 30 minutes or more.

3) Make sure you see the Bill and Ted show.

This was unfortunately a spur of the moment decision so we won't be in the park before hand. We have so ADR's at WDW so will spend the day there. How early would you recommend arriving? Would an hour before be enough?

Also, a total newby question; is an express pass the same concept as the fastpass?

Thank you for the info! All three of us love scary movies, so this is beyond exciting! If you have any pictures, I would LOVE to see them!

This will be my third annual trip to HHN and I can't wait!!

For some really great info I recommend heading into the Universal board. There are some really knowledgeable "Proud Red Heads" in there who can answer any questions.

Some things I wish I had been told on my first trip:

1. Buy the Express Pass. It is like fast pass in that it gives you access to a smaller line however, it is an additional ticket at an additional price. It depends on what night you are going how much it will be; I think they range from $39.99-$69.99 but they are worth every penny. This is a crazy popular event and standby lines can get ridiculously long. My first year we waited 150 minutes for the Texas Chainsaw house (worth it though). They typically sell out of those tickets in advance; we changed our entire trip schedule last year because they sold out of them on the night we wanted.

2. Get there early. Just like with any theme park the later it gets the busier it gets.

3. This event is booze haven if you are a drinker; they even have beer carts set up in line. So watch out for drunks. Drink responsibly.

Like I said I recommend the Universal forum for your questions.

I have been planning my trip this year since the moment I got home last year!
