How long from plane landing, to check-in at hotel w/ME? - The DIS Discussion Forums

So, our plane is scheduled to land at 1:40pm, I'm thinking we won't get to our hotel (WL) until about 4pm, is that about right?

As much as my husband would probably like to just chill out at the hotel that evening, I don't think I can do it! It will be the second week of December & I'm thinking of going to Hollywood Studios, just to see the Osborne Lights for awhile. Just wondering if we will have enough time. We will have to eat dinner, too.

On the average it's taken me about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the time my plane has reached the gate to the time I check into my resort. I usually travel by myself so I keep notes to keep myself busy and this timeframe has been the norm on most of my trips.
My plane lands at 11:25, I was in line at the ME counter by 11:45 (this was when you still had to go to the counter to check in) check in took 10 minutes I was on the bus by 12:15, left the airport at 12:25 and was at my resort by 1:00. I usually check in and then just drop my carry on in the room and freshen up (if the room is ready) and then I hit the parks. With the information I gave above, I was at the bus stop and waiting for the bus for Epcot by 1:45.

We have usually arrived at the resort 70 to 90 minutes after landing. We only make a quick bathroom stop in the airport and head right to the DME check-in.

In December we landed at 10:05 AM and were in the Animal Kingdom in line for lunch at Pizzafari at 12:15. Only went to the room to drop off carry ons.

It takes FOREVER....
My last trip, I had a plane delay for an hour, DME took forever just to fill up and we missed our Princess dinner at Norway.

It does not take forever, maybe you had a bad experience but in all my DME trips (7 total) one took 85 minutes the others 70 minutes or less in fact one took less than 60 minutes. Did you actually time it or did it just feel like it was taking forever?

Thank you for the info! I'm more optimisitc than before about getting to DHS for a wondrous few hours!
If we can get to the hotel by 3 or so, then we can easily get to DHS by 5 or so. YAY!

I have had trips of between 50 and 85 mins using DME...and that is about a total of 6 times to date. The average time has been about 70 mins. Only one trip took longer than that 70 mins.
The shortest trip, with any type transportation, was with a car service and no checked luggage. That one took 45 mins from deplaning to resort checkin.
Other trips with a towncar took about an hour, with checked luggage.
With DME you can get to the DME counter, from your gate, in about 15 mins. Then you could be in the checkin line for anywhere from 2 mins to 15 mins....the longest I have waited is 20 mins but that was when a huge number of people were there (PopWarner families checking in last Dec) and the line was back to the car rental counters!! Most times I have waited about 4-5 mins. Then off to the bus lines....wait times of 0-20 mins. Most waits have been around 5-10 mins for me...only once was it the full 20 mins.
On the bus?? I have been the last to board and we left immediatly. But I have been among the first to board and we have waited there for 15 mins. Then the 30 min ride to WDW...depending on which stop you are, it could take 30-45 mins.

But, if you arrive at 1:40, I would imagine that you will be at WL by 3:15ish.
