Doorway to Dreams Event 8/30/09 with Pictures and Video Links - The DIS Discussion Forums

I attended the 1:00 presentation. We bought into BLT!!! I don't know whether to jump for joy or kick myself for not buying into another resort on the resale market BUT I AM very happy right now.

Anyway.....here are photos from the event and links to youtube video...mods if that is not allowed please let me know.

The first two are of the room we were in....the pics are at the beginning of the event but did not fill up completely....at all.

They had live music during between 12:30 and 1:00 while people were arriving. Disney songs of course!!

The "Doorway to Dreams" doorway....

The "locksmith" Dudley who looks suspiciously like "Officer Peabody" from the Disney Studios..

The meet and greet after....somehow we never made it downstairs to the snacks and characters but a CM brought up Mickey and Pluto so we could take photos.....I missed out on Minnie Mouse though....I think they thought if we left the room that we would not come back or something....they even escorted my girlfriend downstairs so she could brings snacks and lemonade back up to us!! We really didnt like that but they WERE very accommodating and we chose not to make an issue out of it since we were right in the middle of the contract stuff. I hope my friends buy into this also....

Congratulations!!!!! And Welcome Home!!! I think you will be very happy with your choice!!!

And, the resale market will still be there to 'cure you' when addonitis hits!!!

I'm assuming this is the New York store? Was this the grand opening weekend?

Not sure how many presentations they had but if all of them were only this attended, then I'm sure it was a disappointment for DVC.

These were the two cast members that were on the online DVC presentation a few months back also.

No this was not the grand opening of the actual store...it was held in a nearby hotel. The grand opening of the store has an official date of October 17th although the store is actually opening mid-september...

We were also there yesterday at 1pm. We bought into AKV instead of BLT. We decided on AKV because the incentives were of more off per point and BLT is not very appealing to my husband. We so excited to finally be DVC Members!!!

Congrats on your purchase!! Who was your guide at the show? We had Amil, but our original guide we did a tour with back in 2006 Roland was there also. Amil was nice enough to make sure Roland would be our guide going further. My husband and I were very happy with this since we really like him!!! I still have all the info he gave us in 2006 LOL.

Again congrats and welcome home!!!!

How can you find out where they hold these types of events? I live in NC and do they ever have anthing close to me?

Congrats to all who purchased. Dh and I are looking into purchasing next year!!
