First Time- Wishes Dessert Party?

Got saw the news that they will be continuning the Dessert Party through Halloween. We will be there 9/20-9/24. I am thinking this will be great for our first ever viewing of wishes especially since we have almost 3yr DD?? It is quit pricey but for convience and not having to fight crowds with our 3 year old I think it may be worth it?

Any advice or opinions....can you still it very good from the party? Thanks!

Also does anyone know when/what time Wishes is during this time frame?

Thanks Again.

2-You have to know where to look.
There are several Disney sites and each one is different*
in how you access the daily information.

There are also many non-Disney sites.

Take your Pick.

Here's how to find several listings.
I'd advise that you check back OFTEN.

We are looking at possibly doing the dessert party on 9/26.

However, that is also the only night we would be able to see the Spectromagic Parade, which we want to do as well.

How does it work with Spectromagic? Can you see the parade from the dessert party? Do we need to try and watch the parade and then go to the dessert party after the parade? Etc.

Anyone with any experience on this? I think the Dessert Party would be fun, but it is not really a must do for us, and I'd rather miss it than miss Spectromagic.

1- Not good. The parade is 200+ feet away and virtually obstructed. Sound is bad.

2- Some say they have tried, but most want to check into the Dessert Party very close to 9PM.
(Head of Spectro wont' reach that end of Main street until about 9:15pm, and won't be over until past 9:35pm.)

ok just checked parks hours as of now on the 21st one of our MK days hours are 9-9 with spectro at 8 and wishes at 9 we have a 500 plaza dinner reservation this day

9/23 our other MK day hours are 9-8 with not spectro and wishes at 8

which one would you do dessert party??? the 23rd one be our last night in Disney so this me may be better and we have no dining reservations or anything this evening. Also we could do spectro on the 21st and not worry about getting a good view for wishes and do it on the 23rd???

Im so torn...keep in mind we will have an almost 3year old with us

I just signed us up for the Sept 21st one. We have a (almost) 5 year old. I am assuming, from your comment, your leaving the next day. What time are you leaving? I guess it depends a little on that. Either way, it looks like fun!
Good luck!

I am going to be in Disney 9/26-9/30 and I called the other day to try and make reservations for wishes but they were booked. I looked for the 27,28 and they told me no wishes buffet on the 29th. So good luck if you can even make a ressie.

Want to say that even though you have a confirmed viewing spot, they don't dim the lights like they do in the parks and you do have a lot of background "chatter" from folks still eating desserts. The desserts were yummy but the ambience of the fireworks was definitely lost to me.

I definitely missed being able to see spectromagic.

with a 3 year old I would skip it. I have 2 teenagers and while the desserts were good, we wished we would have just gotten mickey bars and soaked in the fireworks and the parade

We just did the Wishes dessert buffet on August 17th and it was great! We didn't need to pay for DS (age 2.5) since he's not yet 3, so it did save us some money by going then, rather than a later trip once he is 3. He ate a good portion of dessert too! While we were seated we could see the tops of the Spectromagic floats, but the view isn't great. We have seen that parade so many times though, it really didn't matter. Once Wishes began, people lined up along the railing facing the castle and the view was pretty good. Some people opted to stay at their tables and see what they could. It did seem a bit disorganized during the initial seating, but it was worth the money to do once IMHO. I think if it's in your budget, then it's a nice thing to do as a family.

Oh and if you do go, stock up on the chocolate covered strawberries! That is the only thing they ran out of, and friends of ours also said they ran out too when they went to the buffet in July.

thanks everyone for your input I called earlier couldnt get 9/23 but got 9/21!!!!

Wow this must be a very popular new thing..I couldnt believe I couldnt get 9/23

I think this will be good because my dd is also not quite 3 yet so she is free and I hear it gets crowded trying to fight spots for spectro and wishes and I prefer not to go throught that with an almost 3yr old if i dont have to ....so we will try the dessert party this year and if we arent impressed I am sure it wont be the last time we will be visiting Disney!

AS an FYI, they do assign you seating for the dessert portion of the party, but you will be able to move up along the rail near Main St. when the show gets ready to start. They pipe in BGM for the party, but you can hear the park announcements about the timing of the show. This would be your best bet if you want to get a great view of the fireworks, especially with a little one.

Just so you know, from the party, as you look at the castle, most of the fireworks will be off center to the right, so you know where to look. You will be able to hear ALL of the music and dialogue associated with the show, they had it up VERY loud when we were there on Tuesday.

Word of warning though, unless your little one really likes fruit, cookies, or brownies, many of the desserts may not be to her liking. Then again, she might have a palette for pistachio creme brulee

We did it last week--August 21. It was wonderful! Everyone had an assigned table. Ours was almost in the front. We stayed at the table to watch Wishes. The people who did go to the railing were just the one row at the railing, no more. They didn't obstruct our view at all. The desserts were plentiful and replenished regularly. Same with the drinks. A plus was that a Photopass photographer was there, taking night time shots with the castle in the background, so there was no wait at all. I would definately do this again.

I am the same as you - I'd loike to watch spectro from the parade route and then go to this - but not sure there is time or if you are allowed to arrive after Spectro has passed?

I just booked my dessert reservations for Sept. 8th. No problem. My DS will almost be 3 as well. I just needed to change my dinenr ADR for that night for it to work in my schedule and it was no problem.
We're going to see Spectro on the 7th and then leave right after Spectro. We get to beat some of the crowd staying for Wishes and get DS back to the room a bit earlier. Then the next night Wishes is at 9pm (no Spectro) so we have dessert party at 8 then Wishes - I think it works out great.

I didn't want DS to miss Spectro so this is why Idid it this way (got Hopper tickets) so we can see Spectro up close and then the next night relax with Wishes.

We're on DXDP - so enough dessert already. DS proably won't eat much if any of desserts offered at the party- but that's not problem as he will use our dessert at dinner for his favorite ice cream...

I think the best part is you have someplace to sit and relax to wait for WISHES and then watch it. It sounds like you have a good view and you don't have to stand in a crowd with people moving about trying to get a better position then you.

Yes I thought twice abut the cost, but we're on vacation and it's this little extras that can make it more special....
