Back from 1st GF stay!

Actually it was our first deluxe stay and when planning I had a hard time deciding between the 3 monorail resorts because I really wanted to try GF but I kept reading comments about it being too "stuffy", "frilly", not "kid friendly" etc. Well I'm glad I stuck to my initial choice because the GF is incredible. I didn't find it stuffy at all. There were tons of kids and people were walking around dressed the same as at any of the other resorts we've stayed at. In the evening there were more people dressed up but they were typically going for dinner. We all loved the room (even my ds12)...large, beautiful decor, very comfortable beds and a very nice touch...turndown service! I can't say enough about the friendliness of the CMs there...again, incredible! We were upgraded at check in to a MK view which was the icing on the cake..to sit on the balcony and watch the fireworks and just hearing the sounds of MK was so magical. The only regret I have is that we didn't stay there sooner! There was some refurbishment going on that was quite obvious but it really didn't phase us or put a damper on our stay whatsoever..we were so happy just to be at GF!

I'm glad you had a fabulous stay! GF is our favorite resort, and while it's nice to try other resorts occasionally, we're always happiest at GF.

Being so close to MK is a great plus, and your fireworks view must have been amazing.

Glad you enjoyed your GF stay! I stayed there for the first time in May and love it too And that "stuffy" reputation is all wrong -- it is such a warm, comfortable, family-friendly place! I hope more people will give it a try.

It does spoil you though...getting to the MK by monorail in less than 3 minutes is really hard to beat!

I'm so glad I'm reading more and more posts about people loving the GF. We're going to WDW in December and it was between Poly & GF and since I always make the choices I allowed DH to do it and he picked the Poly but we do have dinner scheduled at Narcoossee's and I'm doing afternoon tea with my mom there one day. She turned 60 last weekend and we were unable to be there so I'm treating her as a belated birthday moment for mom and daughter.

I'm hoping that I can convince DH that we need to go to WDW next June as a make up for a 10th anniversary trip that was canceled 2 yrs ago because I had to have surgery and I want to stay at the GF!!!

I'm so glad you didn't listen to the people who think that the GF is "snooty" and miss out on your wonderful experience. We've enjoyed all of our stays at the GF -- it's really a great place to stay. And congrats on the MK view -- that really makes it special! Being able to watch Wishes and the castle lights from the comfort and privacy of your own balcony is so relaxing!!

DW and I have stayed at GF 8 times over the years and think it's great and not stuffy at all. Reservations were hard to get for the afternoon tea, during the month of December, in the past. You might get them at the 90 day mark to make sure. We were told by a server that during the Christmas season several work groups have their Christmas parties at the tea room and reservations fill-up fast.

Good luck and enjoy the tea.
