Seaworld Please Help

Hello All
Really need some help here. Just returned from our holiday to Orlando and on the last day we went to Seaworld and whilst there we seen a marketing poster for Discovery Cove which featured a great photo of our son swimming in the reef lagoon which must of been taken about 4 years ago on our last visit. We were really chuffed and took some great photos but unfortunately the photo we took of the complete poster has come out blurred and we are gutted. If any one is off to Orlando and visiting Seaworld maybe they would be so kind and take a photo of the poster and email a copy to us. The poster is located at quite an awkward spot as it it is situated on the small hut as you pay to feed the dolphins at the dolphin lagoon to the left of the park as you enter, near to Manta (great ride). We know that this is a big ask but any help would be fantastic, pease pm me if you get a photo and i will be able to provide email address. Thank you.
happy hols

Have you emailed DC or Seaworld to see if you can request a poster? As it is your son in the picture they may well send one to you! Its worth a try. How wonderful for your family, I bet your son was over the moon.

Thanks Bronny. We have tried to email but as yet no reply from either DC or Seaworld. He's also on the current DC brochure (pdf) so we have also requested some brochures by post. Early days yet only been back a week, but constantly checking emails.

Hi John,
Really surprised that Seaworld have done this - although you are obviously very pleased, there is such a thing as a photographic model release which in regard to minors has to be signed by both parents before a photograph with any recognisable face is publicly displayed. This maybe why Seaworld are not coming back to you so quickly!

Not sure of all of the legalities but as very keen photographers we do sell some of our images and cannot use any with recognisable features unless we get a signed release. This might be different for such large corporations but I would check and definately speak to the marketing people at Seaworld - they at least owe you some framed posters!

Most theme parks have a get-out clause that says something along the lines of

"by entering this property you may be filmed and/or photographed and the image/likeness used in subsequent marketing and other materials relating to the park"

you can specifically request to get out of it by going to customer service if i remember correctly, and then any shots that day are checked before publishing.

***IF i remember correctly!!!***

But hey, if you have no objection then great, your kid can say he was the face of Discovery Cove!!!

Surprising you haven't heard back actually, they're normally quite good. Di you provide your postal address in the original email? If so, they may be sending everything out by post and therefore not responding to the email.

Give them a few more days then follow it up, give them your phone number as well and do point out that you're happy about the images just to put their legal folks at rest!

Netty
A six foot palm from Wal-Mart would make a very festive Christmas tree
Especially if covered with FROG ornaments!
