Does Aquatica ever close for inclement weather?

We were at WDW in 2006 and had planed a day at Blizzard Beach. That morning saw quite a rainstorm and we were told that BB was closed for the day (even though the rest of the day was fairly nice)

Here's where my question comes in. I can get a slightly discounted price for Aquatica online. But I don't want to be out the money if they close due to bad weather. Do they offer refunds if this happens? We will not be able to return to Orlando for a few years so deferring the admission isn't a good option either.

they closed BB for the entire day I didn't think they did that. I know they closed down while the storm was over head but I have seen them re-open. I would think that Aquatica would close for while the storm was over head and re-open as well, but since BB closed for the day, Aquatica may do them same as well. Your best bet might be to call them directly and ask them their rainny day policy. I can understand closing for the day during a tropical storm/hurricane, but not our rain storms.. they rarely ever last a full 8-10 hours I would think something else must have happened or was going on for BB to have closed for the full day...I could be wrong...

Maybe they closed for another reason. That's the reason we were given. If it's that rare that these parks close, then I may take my chance on it.

Which would be better for young children (5 and 8) Aquatica, BB or TL?

When were you there ? I can't think of any time the waterparks have closed except for during the hurricanes and when it is so cold in the morning without the possibility of temperature getting to about 45-50 degrees or something like that.
Rain does not close even the slides in the parks. The only time they close the slides/water areas is if the wind is too high for safety reasons or there is lightning within so many miles of the park. Same rules for Aquatica and Wet&Wild as far as I know.

Aquatica has a good kids area. The river there is a little more intense than the disney parks.

BB has a better kids area than TL as far as we are concerned. Has the tamer wave pool.

TL has a really mellow family ride that even a fraidy cat like me loves.

We were there in May 06. I believe it was a Tuesday. there was a pretty heavy duty storm that passed through at night (I didn't notice it, slept like a baby!) then it remained rainy much of the morning. didn't clear up until about noon. I asked at the resort if they'd be open later in the day and they told me that once they decided to stay closed for the day, they were gonna stay closed. We made other plans for that day. Spent a bunch of time swimming at CSR.

We never did get to BB on that trip and skipped the waterparks altogether on our last trip. So, I've only been to TL. We loved the lazy pool. And I liked the wave pool but it was a bit intense and I wouldn't let my kids into it. BB seemed to have a lot more thrill rides in it and only my son is tall enough to go on them. but then I read elsewhere that there's not only a height requirement but an age one as well (9 years old) and that leaves my son out. So, if I go to the Disney parks it looks as though I'll be relagated to the kids section. I was hoping that Aquatica had more family/young children oriented rides.
