Costuming and Vacation Planner roles.

hey guys! I was told you'll get asked if you would like to add/drop any of your role choices during your interview. Is that right? If it is....I was thinking about adding costuming and vacation planner. What do you guys think about those two roles? I chose not to add them to begin with bc they both sound rather secluded and away from the parks. I would love to help with costuming for parades and such but it sounded to me like a lot of my day would be spent in the tunnels doing laundry, off the parks. is that right?

vacation planner is the ticket sellers at the entrances to the parks. At least that is the impression I am under. So if you like selling stuff, you would like this role *I hope, thats why i applied for it*. I also did not do any of the back stage roles just because i like working with the public.

Talking

Entertainment costuming (which would be the costuming you'd go into) is done ON SITE, in the parks. Yes, you will have to do laundry, but you might also get to do other workroom duties if you're lucky--like fittings, dresser, and repairs.

Don't confuse this with general cast member costuming which is done outside the parks.

i don't know anyone in the vacation planner role, but i know a few people who have done costuming...

All of costuming was at the parks... one of my friends did costuming for indiana jones at hollywood studios.. another is currently doing costuming for Finding Nemo: The Musical and Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom... and another just extended and got placed at costuming at Magic Kingdom but im not sure where he's at to be exact.

I'm really hoping for costuming, especially the Entertainment side. In my interview that was my number one, and I think I'm pretty qualified with 10 years sewing experience and theater costuming and dressing experience.

Anyone else hoping to do costuming for Spring?

You won't be doing any sewing but the dressing/costuming experience definitely helps.

Thanks! I guess I figured there might be minor repairs to be done or something...

Did you do entertainment costuming? Did you request it specifically? I want to do costuming, but I'm not sure I want to get stuck in general cast costuming.

Just got back from a visit with my DD and she is in costuming. From what I understand in talking to her, she is trained in 3 different "tracks" or jobs. She works at HS in two of the shows and in the costuming building (her 3 tracks). In the costuming building, she had a reaction to something they use to clean some parts of the costumes so Disney makes sure she doesn't work with cleaning the costumes, I think she does runs instead (transporting costumes to certain areas) and helping with parades. She LOVES it. She has made many close friends with CM's in the shows and looks forward to work. Her job is classified as a backstage role so there is minimal to no interaction with the public. There are many friendships made with the CM's though so it actually works out pretty good...sometimes working with the public can be frustrating esp. when they are not happy. She already wants to extend and says time is going too fast.

Yes I worked in Magic Kingdom Character Room, SpectroMagic, Halloween Atmosphere, Mickey's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, Pirate & Princess Party Atmosphere, Animal Kingdom Character Room, and Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade.

I was just put there. I only knew one girl who was put in Ops costuming but after awhile she made it over to character costuming. You could always request it but nothing's a guarantee!

DD was a CP in entertainment costuming at the MK and is currently there seasonal. She loves it ( except for the Aug heat!) She works on either the day parade, MISICI (another day parade) and currently is working on Halloween ( that one started tonight) She loves her job, gets to costume characters, is outside quite a bit but backstage, does do laundry, runs through the tunnels. There is no guest interacton, but hey, you get to spend the day with Mickey and friends! Feel free to pm if you have any questions!

I am hoping to do Costuming next fall. I'm a theatre major, so that is my most obvious reason why I'm chosing this.

To those who did Costuming: What were the questions about costuming on the phone interview?

I chose more than just costuming so I wasn't asked anything specific about costuming.

The couple of friends that I had that did costuming loved it so I say add it. It makes you a more desirable candidate to have as many positions checked off as possible. (I think I checked everything except for custodial *shudders*)
