Help with Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1 question=)
HI=) I posted a couple of weeks ago and I was asking about the canon rebel. We were looking into buying one but now someone has suggested that we look into buying the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1 9.1mp does anyone know anything about these? So far it looks like this one will be great for us! It has a high speed burst mode that takes 10 shots in less than a second, 20x zoom, panorama mode and a lot more! The price difference is great to it is $499 where the canon rebels are $599 and up. My sister and I are cheerleaders so my mom will be sitting in the stands taking pictures and with the digital camera we have now she misses a lot of stuff due to it being so slow between shots! We need a camera that is going to be good under low-lighting conditions and when we go to Disney World. It sound like the canon rebel might be a lot for us to handle since we aren't expert photographers so I would really like to hear your opinions on the sony cybershot DSC-HX1 Thank you so much!!!!

I think the rebel with the 55-250mm or 70-300mm is your best option for "cheap".
The Sony HX1 has a smaller sensor which means that it will have higher noise. This means that you can't use higher sensitivity modes to speed up shutter time because it will get too noisy and pictures will look ugly. Also, he HX1 has a fairly slow lens. Your mom will be using the telephoto end of the lens often due to the distance between you guys and the stand. The lens is F5.2 at this point which is pretty darn slow. Also, that 10FPS is pretty pointless in my opinion for cheerleading. You would probably want to use a slower mode. Yes, you get 10FPS very quickly, but there will be very little difference between these shots. The REAL trouble comes that you have to wait 17 seconds after you do this each time. Can you imagine how many pictures you could miss of a cheer in 17 seconds? |

Thank you=)
Thank you so much for replying!! Oh you are right 17 seconds would make a huge difference!! That is a big chunk of our halftime!! How fast is it if you are just sitting there taking pictures? Would that be fast enough? If it is fast then I think I would be ok with that and just use the burst mode for something really great since it takes 17 seconds in between the burst mode!! Or is there any other Sony cyber shot or any other camera at all besides a Sony or canon that anyone would suggest? We want to try and get a camera that is close to perfect for us as possible even though we will have to compromise on something!! Thanks again!
