Exclamation The Wonder's Upcoming Drydock Enhancements

I just got off the August 15-22 Western (Eastern) and had a lengthy conversation with the hotel-bar manager/officer in charge. I was told that the space previously occupied by the Lookout Bar will now be an expanded second level to the Cove Cafe. They will be installing an "inner" staircase in the Cove Cafe for access upstairs and an overlook from Deck 10 over Signals to allow guests to check out the happenings below. He said that they are very excited about this addition and it will be a real eye-catcher.

That sounds fantastic! Of course, I only sail seven-nights or longer so I'll never see it unless they do it on the Magic as well...

If true, that would be a nice addition. Then they just need to do that on the Magic.

That makes great sense. I don't think the Outlook Bar is really in use on either ship. I know it was not open either on the Magic or the Wonder when we were on board last year.

I love The Cove, I think this will be a great addition. Can't wait to enjoy it in November.

Under normal circumstances I would doubt that as the conference facilities are well used on the shorter cruises. However, as the Wonder is destined for longer cruises from 2011 onwards, you never know. Maybe not this year, but when the Wonder is next going for dry dock after her first season on the West Coast.

Confirmation of Cove Cafe Enhancements

Was on th3 8/20 Wonder and this rumor was confirmed by the crew members working in the Cove Cafe. In fact, the spiral stair will go up from inside the Cove Cafe to a second level. It was also mentioned this second level would be a Cigar/Martini Bar by the same crew member.

When is the Wonder scheduled for dry dock? I will be cruising 11/09 and just curious if the updates will be done by then. Love the idea of expanding the Cove Cafe!!!

The dry dock is scheduled for late september early october. Early November is a perfect time to cruise after a dry dock, allows time for all the finishing touches to be completed. I am sailing on Nov 5th, can't wait to see what the changes are.

OH XYZQ!!! When they first opened the Cove Cafe it was hideous--there was so much cigarette and cigar smoke that you couldn't even stand to walk by the place. Then they made it non-smoking and it is one of my favorite hang outs. If they put a cigar lounge on the upper level, the whole place will stink again. There's essentially no way they can have it so that the smoke won't affect the lower level. Guess they made too much money selling those cigars. Darn!

One ship is always a little "off kilter" with the other concerning upgrades at dry dock. As each ship goes in, it essentially gets what the other has plus whatever additional improvements they have planned. Logically, the Wonder will get everything the Magic has currently + additional changes. THen when the Magic goes to dry dock in 2010, she will get everything the Wonder has + more.
