Talking Annie & Ed's PJ WP/WHR/France 1/11/11- I'm Back and w/ a preview of Pro-Wedding Pics!

Hi Everyone,

I know it might be a little too soon to start a PJ but I just couldn't help myself...

Let's start off with some background on my hubby and I. My name is AnaMaria and I'm 24, born and raised in Miami, FL. My hubby's name is Edward, he's 44, born and raised in East Chicago, IN. I've been a Disney fan ever since I could remember. My parents took me to Disney when I was one and have NEVER missed a year since. My hubby wasn't into Disney all that much until he met me and now he has come over to the "Disney Side". I know some of you might be shocked, as we are obviously 20 yrs apart but in my family it's pretty much common. My father and mother are also 20 yrs apart but in reverse, my mom is 65 and my dad is 45 and have been married 26 yrs (still going strong).

Well, my hubby and I met when I started working at Stiefel Labs. in Dec. 2005, we were just friends as we were both in a serious relationship. About a year and 5 months later we both found each other single and ready to start fresh. Although we both thought different things about each other...a party animal (me) and a workaholic (hubby), lol. We both decided that we might just take a chance and go on a first date (May 17, 2007) and everything we thought went out the window. After the first date we couldn't be a apart and spent everyday with each other. Then we did the most reasonable thing possible get engaged and in the most unconventional way. We were both chatting how we absolutely love each other and how we can't live without one another. Then I asked him, "would you marry me?", after the initial shock he said "Yes!". The next day my hubby wanted to talk to my parents and ask for my hand in marriage. My parents were surprised (for a sec they thought I was preggo's) but said yes and gave us their blessings. That same night we bought 4 round-trip airfare to Chicago, leaving June 28-June 31, 2007. We were married on June 29, 2007 in Chicago, IL at a civil court.

Our mini-reception:

My Ring:

We decided to wait to have a formal wedding when we were financially ready plus we were hoping to buy a new house...which we did (yayyy!!!). So now that we are comfortable where we are, we knew that no place would do except Disney!!!!!! We are not calling this a "vow renewal" but our "wedding celebration". I'm super excited to start the planning process even though we are a yr and months away. Sorry for the long introduction, hope you enjoyed reading my PJ as I enjoy reading all of yours!!!

Some more pic's of us:

Happy Reading!!!

Question Inspiration for my "Alice meet's Tim Burton Theme"

Inspiration for our theme wedding!

What do you guys think about my inspiration and what do you prefer?

#1

#2

#3

#4

I'm leaning towards the #1 with maybe adding some of the green in #2 and I would remove the bright red from it. So it would be an eggplant color, green and white wedding. We are trying to incorporate the darkness of Tim Burton's version but with some whimsy from the original Alice in Wonderland. I also like #3 but I think it's to nice for a Tim Burton wedding, lol.

Can't wait to hear your opinions...

Thanks!

Question To escape or to wish that is the question!?

Well, my hubby and I are trying to decide between a wishes and an escape. I'm going to be calling Disney on Monday, 8/23. We really want a reception with a DJ because our families love to dance and get down. At the same time we do not want to spend more than $15K including our honeymoon, which of course will be at Disney. If we do an escape we want it at SBP, with a small reception at the ATTIC and a dessert party in the UK pavilion and if we do a a wishes we want the ceremony in the UK with a reception at ADH and maybe (if money permits) a dessert party at the UK pavilion. I keep checking the BEO's to get an idea on how much we would end up spending. Once we get a call from our planner we want to set up a site visit for October.

Also, I have already decided on my centerpieces...

Your ideas are beautiful!! I love the teapot centerpiece - they are going to look stunning! My fave theme is #1 The deep dark colours look amazing and will look so intense in photos, I think it's really unique and I can't wait to see how your ideas develop and the actual day!!

We went back and forth between Wishes and Escape too and ultimately Wishes was more cost effective for us. We plan to stay as close as humanly possible to the minimum of $12k (then add in honeymoon). Looking at BEO's is a great idea!

Humm, when I think Tim Burton, I think darker, so your 1st inspiration board suits that....but I love the colours in the 3rd one!

Oh, and I love your e-ring!

Question Wishes has been decided...for now.

Hi,

Thank you for everybody's comments and opinions!!!

My hubby and I spent an hour discussing if we should do a wishes or an escape. We both decided to go with a wishes but before we really commit we want to make sure our planner can get us to $12k exactly (obviously that's not including tax and service charge). If we can not get close to it then we rather go with an escape becuz we know we will spend $10K or less.

Does anyone have a recent BEO for a $12K minimum wedding?

I'm between three dresses, the first two are from Maggie Soterro and the third from Essense of Australia. Let me know what you think?

#3

My hubby loves #1 (yes, he saw the dresses, I'm not supersticious) and I love them all!!!!The prices for all three are great, they are between the $800 to $1500 price.

Thanks again!!!

Oooooh!!!! I love Inspiration #1. I would keep it those same colours. I love the eggplant!

I love dress #3, but dress #1 is nice as well.

There is a 16 year age gap between me and my fiance. To us age is just a number!

Same here...my hubby is a kid at heart and he says I'm an old soul. It's great to hear we are not the only big age difference couple at the DISboards, lol.

Thanks everyone for their input!!!

I'm definitely leaning towards #1 for inspiration and also #1 for my dress. I have removed #3 from the running, the dress just isn't me.

Coming up...
