My Contemporary review, updated with pictures

Hi everyone my family and I are actually getting home tomorrow, so I am posting my Contemporary review from a Hampton Inn location in Lima, Ohio. I figured with all the un packing and all other things we need to do now would be the best time to post my review so here it is.

Before we were at WDW my family and I were in Clearwater Beach, so from there we drove to WDW. Anyway while driving there along Interstate 4 we stopped off at a McDonald's in Dover, Florida and just as we got back into my dad's Jeep it would not start. So we waited an hour and a half for a tow truck who took us to the Contemporary, then later that day my dad got another tow truck which took him to the Magic Kingdom Car Care Center. The problem was his battery, which got fixed the very next day and it could have been a lot worse.

Anyway as for our actual stay once again we had an amazing time. Our room number was 4817 which had an amazing view of Bay Lake, Epcot and Bay Lake Tower. The Cast Members were very friendly, especially some of the experienced Cast Members from the Atrium Club who would all go out of their way to help us with anything we needed. When it came to the extra guests from Bay Lake Tower I honestly didn't think they impacted the 4th floor and etc being a lot more busy and there was just one time when we had to wait for another Monorail because of a huge line. Just like in December the Contempo Cafe was great so I went multiple times.

Here are two new Club Level facts I found out.

Travellers Cheques can now be cashed on either the 12th or 14th floor, so no more doing that in the lobby.

When insterting your car for the 12th or 14th floors, if it does not light up then just press the button for your specific floor.

Also Wishes music is played on Contemporary info channel, which is channel 20.

Finally I took a grand total of 42 new pictures with my camera, so I will load them tomorrow and post them on here.

Glad to hear your Dad's car troubles weren't too serious (an added expense you really don't need on vacation).

Was the stay on the 12th floor as good as usual? I'm staying there for 3 nights at the end of October before heading over to the GF SL so I'm happy for any details.

Also, I assume that you don't have anyone in a wheelchair in your party but do you think the lounge is wheelchair friendly? What if my mom can't reach the tea or coffee or soda (if she happens to go in on her own), is there someone there who could help her?

Honestly we have had so many great stays on the Atrium Club floor, so I can not say one was better then the other. Instead I would say each of them have been very special in their own way.

No we don't have anyone with a wheelchair, however ther was two other guests there in ECV's and they had no problems using them in the lounge. Also the counter where the food and drinks are located should be ok when taking them from a wheelchair, however I am sure the Cast Members won't mind helping.

As for the extra expensive for the battery it needed to be spent, however it was more of a waist when my dad rented Convertible from the Alamo over there, incase his Jeep was not ready on time. Plus it was one of the only cars they had available at the last minute. So the only time he used it was going back to the Contemporary and the next day when he returned it, so he might have only put 5 miles on it.

Hey CR, glad to see you back. Sorry to hear about your Dad's car trouble but glad that you all had a great time. Looking forward to see your pic's as always.

I forgot to mention all that talk about the Contemporary being a major convention resort is not really true. Obviously I am not denying that meetings and conventions don't take place, however I never noticed any people on conventions unless I was walking on the 2nd floor of the Tower. I never noticed them in the lobby or on the 4th floor and there was a convention with KPMG taking place when I was there.

One more thing, I am not exactly sure what was done to it but this past Thursday the bus station re-opened, because it was being renovated. So for a few days when getting on a bus for Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom/Blizzard and Downtown Disney/Typhoon Lagoon, you needed to wait for them where the Magical Express buses arrive.

That's interesting. They were still using the regular bus stop when I checked out of BLT on the 14th, so it must not have been down for long. They were working on the covered walkways at the back of CR the last couple days I was there.

I agree that the opening of BLT didn't really impact the restaurants and transportation as much as people were afraid they would. I was there for 11 days and always managed to find a seat on the bus, boat, or monorail. I never had a problem getting a seat at the Cafe for breakfast, and the Chef Mickey's line didn't look any longer than usual.

Glad you had a great trip! Did you stay at the Marriott in Clearwater again?

The renovations to the bus station started well after the 14th, however like I said before it's now finished and didn't take long.

Also yes while we were in Clearwater we stayed at the Marriott in Sand Key.

Very glad to hear that the BLT traffic did not have a great impact on things at CR. There was so much talk and hype about it that a lot of us that are going to be staying at CR were a bit nervous.
