Will the CMs make my daughter take off her shoes?

With shoes, my DD is a touch over 40 inches. This will be her first trip where she will be tall enough to ride. She is a total adrenaline junkie and can't wait to do BTMRR, Splash, Soarin (and maybe even ToT). However, I have heard that CMs will sometimes make kids take off shoes to be re-measured if they are very close to 40 inches. Has anyone actually had this happen to them, or is this an urban legend? Thanks!

No shoes removed...

UNLESS they look like they have obviously been "stuffed" or have elevator soles.

Shoes that elevate you more than a normal sole. Think platform shoes etc.

Just something short guys used to wear in the 70's... kind of like platforms for guys. I am sure Robo just read about them in a history book.
In today's vernacular you should substitute "4 inch stillettos" for "elevator soles". (I speak fluent 12 year old girl.)

Hey Robo, I saw you on the show "MEDIUM" Friday night.
If you didn't happen to see it you could probably catch it online. LOL

It was on CBS last night at 9:00 pm right after "Ghost Whisperer" I was surprised to see it on, too, because that was not what was listed on our TV program for that time. It was titled "Gassed"

I had never seen this one before, but I did miss a few at the end of the season. You were definately in it.

I'm a bit worried for your daughter. If she is that close to the proper height, she may not get on. Disney is VERY strict when it comes to height measurement, and what they measure is the only thing that matters.

Try to ride any rides your daughter may be close on first thing in the morning. We all tend to shrink during the day. And have her practice standing straight and tall, and make sure she doesn't shy away from the measuring bar.

Good luck!

On the original topic.......

If she just squeaks by in shoes on the rides remember when you go to the water parks she won't be tall enough. That happened to my son. he was ok at the parks with his sandals or tennis shoes but at the water parks barefoot he just touched the underside of the bar and they wouldn't let him go down the slide.

We went last year for the first time. I think my son was probablly like 39.5 and pretty darn close to 40 with shoes on. He so wanted to ride BTMR. They would not let him. They didn't ever ask him to take his shoes off to be measured though...that was with shoes on. There were other rides you had to be 40 and he could still go. I would have HATED it if he couldn't have ridden SOARIN. We all road that like 4 times. It was our favorite ride...that and TSM. So at least in our case, he was allowed to ride most of the 40 inch rides but he was not allowed to ride BTMR. I can't remember if there were any others. He is very skinny for his age but I am not sure that was any factor. Good luck!

this is my biggest fear for our upcoming trip. DD will be 6 years old...but is TINY and is about 39.5" without shoes. I got her some sneakers with thick soles that put her well above 40"...but I am still afraid she will not get on some rides and be very disappointed.
we'll see -

My younges nephew was measured to get onto Kali River Rapids, he was slightly under the height requirement, but they gave him the little wristband to get in. No shoes had to be taken off.
