Tram on Castaway

What can you tell me about the tram? Is it crowded? Shall we count on using it or should we count on walking?

Does it go to the Adult Beach?

Anything you can share will be appreciated.

there is a sticky for "*** DIS DCL FAQ - New Alphabetical Listing of DCL Information ***"

then go to links for 'Castaway Cay Information and Excursions', 'Castaway Cay Excursion Reviews'

We walked and beat the tram since they wait for it to fill.

The tram can get filled quickly earlier as people are trying to get over to the beach and will also fill up quickly closer to "get of the island" time! There is one tram that will take you up to the beginning of the family beach. Not far from there is a second tram that will take you over to Serenity Bay.

If you take the first tram you ride right past the photo op with Captain Jack (when he's out in the AM).

We have never waited for the tram when we get off the ship first thing. There are too many people and we get to the beach before the next tram would arrive.

Just to clarify, there are two trams. The first goes from the ship to the family beach. The second goes from the family beach to the adult beach. The ship to the family beach is just as easy to walk, and those trams do fill up. I typically don't wait for them and just do it on foot. The family to adult beach tram is less crowded, and well worth waiting for since it's quite a hike down a long, non-shaded runway to the adult beach on foot. Hope this helps!

How full the first tram is depends on the time of day. It can be nice when you're coming back and lugging "stuff" to ride back. Don't forget that you can drop your wet towels in bins by the bathrooms if you don't want to carry them back to the ship! I'm all for lightening the load!

As above, ship to family beach isn't a bad walk. The walk to Serenity Bay can be long and hot....take the tram for that one. That tram is usually less crowded, but can fill up! There's also a towel return at Serenity Bay.

Correct...there are two trams. We never wait for the one to the family beach as it can be walked in about 8 minutes.

The second tram does not pick up where the first tram lets off. Once at the family beach you still have to walk a bit down the beach to get to the tram that takes you to the Adult beach and that one we do take as it is quite far to the adult beach from the family beach.
