Opinions please - when to go

I can't decide between Oct. 21 thru 28 or Dec. 2 thru 9.

Which do you think will be less crowded.

With Oct. date DS misses less school, and I assume we'll have longer park hours and more comfortable weather. But Space Mountain is still closed (one of DS's favorites)

With Dec. date, it is less expensive because it is value season (fairly important.)

We don't care about MNSSHP, and aren't wild about the Halloween decor.
Not sure DS will care about any of the Christmas stuff in December.

I would do December

1) you will miss hurricane season completely
2) Christmas deecorations
3) lower crowds
4) you can do all of your holiday shopping!

Another December vote! Don't assume your DS will not be impressed with Christmas decorations! They are truly amazing!

I have to vote for December as well. The atmosphere is completely different around Christmas with all the holiday festivities, and it's addictive :-).

While October gives you the opportunity to go to MNSSHP, I would have to vote for December as well. I've actually never been either time, but I HAVE seen the Halloween decorations in person (September 2007) and a few of the Christmas decorations and Christmas is better. October can still be rather warm anywhere in the south. So can December, but it's more likely to be more pleasant in early Dec than in Oct.

I haven't been in late October, but the first week of December isn't uncrowded. At least in our experience. We were surprised by the very large crowds.

If you are not into MNSSHP or the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot, then I'd say December. Crowds at Epcot can be heavy on weekends during F&W.

WDW is amazing at Christmas time. The weather will be colder. We went for several Christmases and it was colder in Orlando than Los Angeles almost every time. We did have one Christmas which was amazing - 80 degrees on Xmas day.

Crowds should be pretty empty during the first week of December. It's cheaper (value season) and the hours aren't that drastically different that you would change the level of fun you'd have. I'd say December.

We've been there the first 2-3 weeks of December the past 3 years in a row. While it's true it gets a bit busier each year (darned Travel Channel shows!) crowds are still typically pretty low-moderate compared to other times of the year.

We don't generally do rope drop, tend to get to the parks late morning, and usually do PM EMH. We're armed with a good bit of WDW knowledge but only a loose touring plan. Given all that, we haven't waited more than 20 minutes for anything (except TSM, but it doesn't matter what time of year it is for that).

All that said, all bets are off this year - particularly with all the promos being offered - so your mileage may vary, but early December is still our favorite time to go!

another vote for early December. The decorations are great to see at least once, and we really enjoyed seeing the characters in the Holiday outfits. Some days were cold, but some were plenty warm for swimming.
