Cinderella Castle- There will be a construction crane behind the castle 8/21/-27

Cinderella Castle- There will be a construction crane behind the castle 8/21/-27. Lights are being installed for the Castle Lighting show later this year. The Enchanted Grove walkway will be closed from Sir Mickey's to the Fairytale Gardens. The smoking area will be moved behind the Castle Couture shop.

With 2 days to go till my trip I cant tell you how thrilled to bits I am about this..said in very sarcastic tone However the Xmas lights show on the castle is so amazing and heart wrenching that I can begrudgingly say that it has to be done sometime and if its not my trip it is someones elses. And i will still have 2 days to get some shots without the crane so I guess I suck it up I just sort of thought to myself: no Space Mtn, no TTA, no Living with the Land, I cant get into the dessert party and now Wishes will have such a lovely backdrop!!
Thanks for posting this. glad i know before i get there

They may not actually move it but they may lower the boom - some cranes have a boom that is hinged in the center. I used to watch a construction site while waiting for the bus after work and they always lowered the top half of the boom to the ground when they shut down for the night - probably for safety reasons in case it got windy.

The way they position the crane you will have a hard time seeing it if the boom is lowered. I know in the past they lowered it after a certain time each day and if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't see it.

There was a crane there either our last trip or the trip before. They never had the crane raised during the daytime, I believe all of the work they did was after hours so hopefully it will be done the same way this year. I took a look at my pictures and none of the castle shots have a crane in them, so goes to show you that they definitely were lowering the crane during the daytime hours...and it is a good sign that after looking through my pictures I still couldn't tell which year had the crane.

If by chance they do work during the daytime hours, because they can lower it so much, Wishes should be fine.

We were there 1/09 and to my dismay the crane was there. I'll tell you it kinda ruined by trip. Maybe it was all the cutbacks b/c of the economy +/- super low season, but that with the crane made me swear off trips for a while...Of course, we're going back in November for Thnxgvng--they must put something in the water!!!!

But I digress... the crane was up the whole time, (a week!), did not come down or move for wishes or anything!!!!

I go on the 26th so it will be there part of my trip. I'm trying to think positive though.....they probably figured it would be a slow time at the park...so it would be a good time to do it.

Look on the bright side...the crane couldn't possibly look worse than the infamous 25th anniversary castle-cake.

Does anybody remember this thread? It is so hilarious! I thought of it when I read about the crane. So I just had to find it & post it here.
