OK...
It's been a little over a year since our very first Disney trip (aaahhhh.... )And we've known for a while that we are definitely going back ("we" is me and my mom). But it cannot be until december 2012, sadly. Simply because we don't have the money. Yesterday we were talking and my mom totally surprised me by saying she dreams we could skip our original plan of doing 1 week Disney/1 week Universal (Harry Potter, YAY It has always been a dream of mine to do such a thing... We could spend all the time we want both at Universal AND Disney, and ALSO visit all the other interesting places... SeaWorld, Nasa... some beaches maybe... (OK, probably not, payin for a hotel stay WHILE payin for a long-term rent would be too much! ).Not to mention... since it's unlikely my dad would tag along... it would be almost half a year without my dad!!! ![]() The question now is... is it possible? I mean, of course technically it is, many people do it each year (Snowbirds!). But is it possible for us? Do you have links of rental places (safe, good quality)? Ideas of how to organize? Stories of people you know who tried it? It's clear that if I think we could manage it if the total price would be under 10.000$, we couldn't over that. So prices of 100$/night or 3000$ monthly are out of the question. On the other hand, 1000$ monthly could make it possible. We don't need a big house, just as long as we have 2 beds (don't even need 2 bedrooms... altough I'm sure we'd sleep better), a kitchen and A/C. And internet. I think I'd die without it. ;o) So please... help! Just a note... cannot be in a Snowbird 55+ community. I don't care being in a place with older people at all, but I mean, if the rules are 55+, it just won't work since I'm 30! ![]() THANKS!

OK, talked to my mom again...
turns out, she does want this "whole winter in Orlando/Kissimmee" stuff, but not before 2015 or later... and mostly, not before kinda trying in out by doing just one month in 2012. So our 2weeks is turning into a month... which is still pretty cool! And instead of going to the Contemporary like we thought, we would stay offsite (I'm sure it would cost both arms and an eyeball to stay one month at the Contemporary!)... for a month. I still need help figuring out the 4-6 month winter extended stay stuff... But would also like input about 1 month (4 weeks) stay, in like, say... november 2012. Thinkin about it, Contemporary for a whole month couldn't be OK anyways, since we're gonna spend at least 1 of those weeks at Universal... And spending a month there would be ideal to discover SeaWorld... So... Again... Thanks a million for your help guys!!!

I would PM Tednvon. He's from Iowa and spends 3 months each winter at Sunset Lakes. He used to own a home in Emerald Island I believe, and can give you some advice.

I have a friend who stays the entire month of January in Fort Wilderness, staying at Disney for that long seems like something out of a dream.I would be happy with an offsite hotel booked on Hotwire for $30 a night, but actually staying at a Disney resort has to get up there in price.
