I have to share or I'll burst with excitement - DBF has banned me from sharing with our friends and family a certain trip we made together to a certain jewellers this week, but as none of them are on here....and this thread specifically...I think I can tell you all

Brief history - DBF and I met in July 06 at a friends engagement party. 2 weeks later we were officially a couple!! May 07 after I ran the London Marathon he surprised me with 2 weeks in Orlando, in a villa with his parents. Not a bad vacation, but we'd never go with his parents again lol! We both realised that we both LOVED Disney and our relationship grew stronger and stronger. By July 2007 we were joint DVC members (he was the one who said "with this we'll be able to take the kids to Disney every year instead of only a few times as they grow up"!!)

We talked very seriously about where our relationship was going and realised we had something very special. Lots of challenges had been flung our way in the last 3 years and we're still very very happy and close - nothing fazes us when we face it together. We have discussed at length, for the last 2 years about our future and a Disney wedding. It's what we both want....and most family and friends are fine with that too which is great.

So - the proposal? It hasn't happened yet....DBF knows it has to be done at WDW and I think had enough of my "do I need an engagement outfit?" question for the last 3 trips and the one coming up has driven him mad!!

We made a bit of a deal. He took me to Tiffany & Co to look at, try on and find a ring - on the condition I stopped asking him that and just trusted him...

DEAL!!

So, 2 days ago, I got to sit in the Ring Room in the Bond Street store in central London and try on those beautiful rings, learn and understand about the diamonds, and give DBF some ideas. I've always wanted a Tiffany engagement ring, even if the diamond was small -and I really love the Lucida style. I tried on a few and we both fell in love with the lucida. I tried on a few different carat sizes too, and we decided that some were just way to big for me - I have small hands and slim fingers.

It's now all down to DBF, all he told me is that it will be within the next year and that it will probably be at WDW. And I'm not allowed to ask anything else lol!! He can pick the diamond size, and that will be part of the surprise for me too. Not that I'm particularly bothered, it's such a pretty ring, a small one looks fine on my finger!! After I've been wearing the ring for 6 months or so, we'll get it engraved (this was our consultants advice) - not telling what yet, but it will only be a complete saying when put together with the wedding band which will will have the 2nd half of what we want to say engraved on it. Sounds complex but I'll keep it a surprise!!

I'm just so happy that it really is all real. We've been talking about this sort of thing for ages, but the fact that DBF made an appointment, and we did all the trying on and sizing, kinda makes it all so real now!!

I've been a lurker on this forum for SO long and now....maybe soon....I'll actually be able to come on here and share my planning lol!!

We're currently in West London area not too far from Heathrow - living with my Dad while we save for our own home - trying to get the biggest deposit possible!!

Where near Heathow are you? I used to live in West Drayton but since moved further out now near Windsor.

Thank you - it's weird, trying on the rings, finding 'the one' and just knowing we're one step closer to our commitment to each other has really calmed me down about it all lol - I can't wait, but I can wait if you know what I mean?!!

We're currently in Hounslow, itching to get out lol!! DBF works in Acton and I'm based in Chelsea, so no idea where we'll look for our 1st home!!

I may have you all beat! I applied for a position overseas for work...would leave in May 2010. We've picked out the ring and it's being made. Probably won't be "official" until end of September, for a possible February wedding! Talk about anxious to get engaged!!!

That is so cute - the "he'll be nervous bit"!! DBF has already told me he has NO idea what he'll do but he'll speak to some friends on another forum that we're both on...me I can cope being on 3 different places and he can't!!

I will for sure be on here with a fanfare when it happens....I'm just feeling so lucky and happy that I have someone who actually wants to be with me forever, I can wait a while for him to find the perfect moment

i'm in a similar boat i think. my boyfriend has been acting suspiciously this past week when i ask him about marriage. usually he just gives me the "someday" or the "no i haven't picked a way to ask you yet" response. i told him which ring i wanted (it's a seller on etsy that makes beautiful rings in white sapphire). when i ask him if he's contacted her he says, " i can't divulge that information". haha. men are so bad at hiding things.

that being said, i still have no idea when he would even ask me. he said that it might happen by the end of this year. we've been together almost 5.5 years now. here's hoping!
