They do full hair cuts for all ages!!

Our youngest son had his first hair cut there and received a certificate and a Mickey Hat with My First Haircut on it.

For older kids, they will add color and pixie dust to your hair after the haircut if you prefer.

The cost is $14 for kids ($17 for adults).

My DN had her first haircut there when she was almost 5yo. She has thin, very curly hair, got it put up in a bun and had pink streaks and pixie dust put in. Loved it! But it took a long time to wash it out as she is very, very tender headed...

I go several times a year to get a hair cut.. it is only a 6 1/4 hour drive...! And I usually see at least 1 or more kids getting a first hair cut. I love the little boys that get crew cuts and a MM head in colored hair gel and then the pixie dust on that, so cute!

To avoid a long wait get to MK at rope drop and go straight to the Barber Shop! Do NOT go anywhere else, it can be a long wait if you arn't there early, and I have seen where there was a family of 5 or 6 in line for only 1 or 2 hair cuts that ended up with all of them getting a hair cut cause the Barber shop did such a good job, or grandkid wants Grandma/pa and parent to have a hair cut too!

If you need food send your DH down to Main Street Bakery to get something to munch on.

They are very fast and do a great job, and it is fun to walk around all day with pixie dust in your hair. I love to see big burly tattoed biker guys with a hair cut, gelled MM in the hair and pixie dust! Only at WDW.

IT IS WONDERFUL!!! Take the time and DO IT. Our "barber" was Penny, and she was fabulous. Never rushed, even though there were lots of people waiting!

Click on them to get bigger views. DH got a haircut, DD got her first, and DD got gel stripes and pixie dust. I think it was $38 for all three? The haircut was $14. One of our best memories!

my DS had his 1st and 2nd cuts their! Michal cut his hair both times and did a great job. We had better luck going later in the afternoon. The first time was before the parade (and we just waited for one person), and the 2nd time we went right before they closed, around 4:45, no one was there- we weren't even sure if they were still open! It was great though, and Joel looked adorable both times. We were going to only get his hair cut there, but he was getting really shaggy and we just couldn't wait until October so he had his first non-disney haircut this past weekend....not the same but he still looks good

I agree that it is definitely worth doing. I had both of my kids' first haircuts there. The only thing I didn't like was that it is first come first served, but it is sometimes hard to tell how many people are actually ahead of you.

First of all, the staff there are fully licensed barbers and give "real" haircuts. I am one of serveral people for whom it is the regular barber shop.

They do not take reservations and will not allow a person to leave and have their place in line saved unless it is a person in their party. And if your trun is called and you are not there you are back to the end of the line.

Generally it is fairly easy to figure where you beling; when you get there you just ask something to the effect of who is last in line, and then you just follow them. Very oiften it may look extremely crtowded, but there are only one or two people actually ahead of you, most of the crowd is parents/siblings/relatives/friends watching the haircut(s) and often taking pictures.

For a childs first haircut they will give (at no extra charge) a "My First Hiarcust set of ears, a certificate suitable for framing, and a lock of the child's hair in a plastic bag or otherwise wrapped.

One important thing to remember at the MK Barber Shop. When they removed the old antique cash register and put in a terminal to allow use of credit cards and hotel charges and the like they hooked into The Emporium's network. The register, unlike ones in table service restaurants, cannot handle tips as part of the transaction.

So if you are planning on using the Harmony Barber Shop please be aware that if you are using any sort of card you cannot add a tip on the card and should have cash available for tipping.

We had our son's first haircut at 12 mos old done there, Michael also. Michael was great and kept our son preoccupied with mickey stickers while cutting his hair.

We had reservations at Crystal Palace before the park opened and when straight there after we finished eating (about 5 or 10 minutes after 9a) and there was already 3 people in front of us. I did notice that the barber shop had no wait later in the afternoon (around 2 or 3p) when we left for our afternoon breaks.

As said in previous posts, we got a lock of hair wrapped in a tissue , certificate and my first haircut ears.

They do full haircuts on boys and girls and will put in glitter and coloring in upon request. I hear that the hair color (although temporary) is very hard to get out and can run a little when it gets wet or you sweat and get on clothes or in eyes. Just something to keep in mind if considering that part.

This will definately add to the excitement during your trip.

Chris

I'm planning on getting my kids' first haircuts when we go in Sept. DD is 3 and has never had a haircut and DS will be 13 months. I'm so excited.

I second whoever said to go there first. We didn't do that and we wound up not getting haircuts. I was disappointed because I wanted DS13 months to get his first at Disney, but we waited in line in the hot June sun for 15 minutes and the line didn't move. There were at least 6 haircuts in front of us.

The barbershop is great! DD had her first haircut there a few weeks ago and we waited about 20 minutes (we got there about 11:30). My sister took my nephew a few days later and he was able to walk in at about 12.

They do a great job at distracting the kids while they are getting the haircuts. The barbershop is about 10x10 feet there are a few chairs for those waiting and there is a bench outside (a great place to catch the Move It Shake It parade)

I agree - go first thing to avoid the long lines.

DD had her first haircut there when she was 3 y.o. and she still talks about it yet almost 5 years later.

The Barbershop Quartet! Wonderful little gem at the MK!

Belle had her hair done at BBB, her buddy had his done at the Barbershop.

Sebastian after his haircut at the barbershop. He was 11 months. He'd been having his hair cut since about 6 months old, but this was his first Disney do!

This is one of my favorite pics of the kids. I love Sebastian's face! This was taken before his barbershop cut, so you can see they did a "real" haircut on him. They took off all his curls!

You will soooooo not regret doing this.

My DS had a massive amount of hair when I took him to WDW when he was 15 months, but I was determined to wait for that first haricut at the Barber Shop. He was very often mistaken for a girl since I had waited so long for that first haircut.

It was wonderful. Everything that has been described previous to this happened...the free Mickey ears, et cetera. And I can also reiterate that they do a fantastic job. Every time we go DS gets a haircut and he's never had a bad one there. Futhermore; DS and I have crazy, curly, thick hair and it is not easy to cut.

Just a wonderful, very special memory.
