WeGo's service fee to increase - now which will be better - Wego or Garden Grocer?

I wrote this on Budget Board, but thought I would write it hear too since DVC'ers use their services:

I just found out rates for Wego are going up as of 9/1 for $5 for each category. So up to $50 worth of product will remain at $17 service fee, $50 to $100 will be $22 and each category up will be increased by $5 each. So I'm having a tough time trying to determine which is the better deal. What makes it hard is that, while I know the prices ahead of time if I use Garden Grocer instead of Wego, the prices of Garden Grocer (which has a $12 service fee) seem steep for their groceries. Has anyone done any sort of analysis?

And in line with this, if I choose Wego - what store should I choose to be cheapest? many of the things I want I'm willing to take store brand to be cheaper.

Thanks!

I've often wondered how Marge made enough money for this to be worth her hard work. (But we've always tipped well to make up for it )
Take a list of your items to your grocery store to see what your total could be. We've never found a huge descrepancy in the Orlando Walmart and our Walmart with pricing. She hand her receipt right to you so you know she doesn't make any money off the groceries. She's actually saved us some money with coupons.
Give Marge a call and she'll tell you which store has better pricing. We normally have her shop at walmart but one time she recommended switching to Publix.

I also prefer WEGO for the mere fact that I only ask for very few name brands (OJ and yogurt) and the rest store brand (eggs, milk) and I find it much easier/convienant to write that in the free form text box of WEGO

I also like that you can choose your store, or not. I personally refuse to shop at WalMart/Sams Club but am open to any other store, and Marge recommended Publix for my order.

We are going 8/30 so I guess we are getting in right under the wire. to be honest, the delivery fee was irrelevant in my decision, it was more the personal service and convienance of the order form.

I agree - she seemed to work very hard for minimal profit, her real earnings came from the tips. I believe that people are cutting back on tipping in the current economic environment. She needed to raise those fees.

I will continue to stick by Wegoshop - run by a wonderful lady who will literally run all over creation for you - (you should have seen what I put her through IN torrential rain and although she was out of breath and soaked she never complained, but laughed.)

I will never go back to using her competitor GG - I will not defame him here, but know there is very good cause behind my reasoning & simply what I witnessed that gave insight to his attitude toward the customers.

If I understand the math correctly, We Go Shop might charge $30 for their service if you bought $200 worth of groceries, and Garden Grocer might charge $12 but have slightly higher prices for the groceries?

To me, that's a wash, and I'd go with whoever seemed most likely to provide the most user-friendly, reliable service.

In the grand scheme of things -- the entire cost of a vacation at WDW -- I honestly don't think I would fret much over $20...or $100. That's pocket change compared to the overall costs of the vacation!

I agree 100% Its like the people who complain about not being right next to the main pool...really? you walk for 6hours around the parks and complain about a 10minute walk to the pool? ok...

We just got back on 8/12 and we used WeGoShop. We actually had chosen initially to go with Garder Grocer as we had used them last year and were very happy with them. At the last minute I saw the info about WeGo so I decided to try it out.

Because I had already created my list in Garden Grocer, I was able to compare the prices for what I got. Our total at Garden Grocer would have been $101.92 and after tax ($5.13) and delivery ($12) came out to $119.05. Once you add a tip (say 10%) I would have been at $129.

My total at WeGo was $132.53 ($100.48 groceries, $22 delivery, $10.05 tip) BUT we ordered a 12-pk of beer for $9.99, which you can't do at Garden Grocer. So in the end, if you plan to tip when using Garden Grocer, WeGo still seems to be cheaper.

With the increase of $5, it would still be marginally cheaper, but as the PP said, in the grand scheme of things, it is not a make or break thing. For us, since we probably will order beer again, we will choose WeGo. We were, however, very happy with Garden Grocer.

Just be aware that with WeGo, you definitely need to tell her ahead if you will be having the delivery in person or if she will leave it at bell services. You MUST leave a tip if leaving at bell services and a credit card is required. I thought that if we were at the resort when they arrived, we could just take delivery...but you really need to decide that ahead of time. So we were at the resort at our agreed upon time, but since she thought it was a drop off, they actally didn't drop off the groceries until later. And even though we may have been there, it wasn't an option to switch to deliver to us. Just something to know....

Just for a little perspective, I usually "budget" about $100 for DD7's Mickey Bars.

Just to correct something above - you can order alcohol through Garden Grocer. Just put it in the comments section, what you want.

We rent a car for our stays and get what we want, when we want, from where we want. There are no miss understandings or mistakes, and we don't have to schedule a delivery time.

If you shop around you can get a good rate. We are currently using Alamo at $15 per day, insurance, 2 drivers with tax and fees included.

I absolutely agree!!
Not having to worry about wasting my vacation time grocery shopping and knowing from experience that Marge will bring everything exactly as I wanted let's me totally relax and enjoy our time. I always meet her just for our own peace of mind.
I don't mind the fee. She deserves it And we more than save that much by having food, drinks and beer in our room. I think we save it on DH's pool bar bill alone.

I have used both services and will stick with WeGoShop in the future.

DD and I went in June and did not rent a car and were staying for 9 days, so I needed breakfast items, water, soda, fruit, etc.

I had sent my list to Marge. On the way to the airport hotel the night before we were leaving, I realized that I had forgotten to pack allergy eye drops. I texted Marge since it was late, figuring she could contact me the next a.m. She promptly texted me back and it was added to my order. I haven't found that kind of customer service with GG, and someone who makes an effort to go above and beyond for me will make me a customer for life.

Cannot say enough about the great customer service from Marge. Her rates are well worth the money! She truly knows what customer service is!
