How many of you DVC'ers...?

When you go to Disney World enjoy your home resort more than going to the parks?
We are taking a 12 day vacation in June of 2010 and we decided that we're only going to get a three day hopper and the rest of the time just relax and enjoy our home away from home. We're not going comando we're there for the duration and we also are going to rent a car and go to Sea World and Kennedy Space Center.
We both agreed that we've been down enough times to enjoy everything our resorts have to offer even though we know it's our youngest childs first trip he'll only be two at the time but we know we'll always be going back.
I can actually say I am looking forward to this trip and not going to worry about having to be up early and out the door to try and beat the crowds.

Isn't that one of the best things about being a DVC owner. You feel as if you can relax on your vacation and enjoy your home away from home. Enjoy your resort and spend some time enjoying the other DVC resorts and Disney hotels. As great as they are, there is more to Walt Disney World than the parks.

We love to visit the other DVC resorts and experience the different seasons at each. This next trip we have decided to visit all of the moderate resorts for the same reason. After seeing "The adventures of the big Purple Van", we have found a need to see alot of those sites ourselves.

Visiting the resorts is free; the relaxing part is up to you!

I'm not sure I understand this phrase. I have never been the "up early" one - hence part of the attraction of the DVC resorts to me. I love just sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee (self brewed ) while all the others are hustling off to the park leaving us alone with the animals and a quiet pool. I love Disney's property and resorts because they make us feel like we're at home. Staying anywhere else just makes me feel like I'm passing through. No need to hit the parks every day.

I can say it will easily take me 15 years before I see everything on Disney property & I'm sure they'll keep adding and changing. Sea World and Kennedy Space Center are on the top of our to-do list too (ds 12 is a huge rocket fan) and I won't be worried when we skip park days to do either.

Don't forget HP is opening in Universal soon too! (is it still Dec '10?)

We are also new DVC members, and although I look forward to not doing everyday at the parks, 3 days out of 12 seems really low to me. I would get more since the cost to add days after 3 is minimal. Actually, since we bought at BLT, I'm looking forward to leisurely strolls through MK, spending some time on Main Street, and sitting and people watching. That's one of the reasons we bought at BLT, when we stayed at other resorts I did not feel we got enough time to spend in MK, and I didn't want to pay the $ for CR, Poly, or GF.

Although we usually have park passes/Ap or something to be able to get into the parks, we spend way more time at our resort/BWV/pool than anywhere else.We love having great dining options, spa options etc and occasionally strolling thru a park as opppsed to spending a whole day in a park (we never do that anymore!!).Of course we do not have small children which would make our habits different but we love our trips more than ever!!

We're new owners (last year) using our points for the first time. At present I still feel the "need" to go to the parks. We went last year,but it had been a number of years before that. Also, our trips are about 3 days (not counting the
travel days) each, so there's not a lot of "extra" time. We now plan to go yearly and I imagine that the focus will change over time as we've "been there, done that" for the parks.

We have 10-day, non-expiring hoppers, so we don't "waste" any tickets if we don't go one day.

We're new DVCers and we think we'll still get park passes for every day and if two trips will be scheduled in a 365 day period --an AP would be appropriate. It's not that we plan on doing the park thing every day, but we might want to have lunch or dinner at a park just to eat somewhere different. And since we won't be planning our day around the parks attractions and rides, it'll be more relaxing visit to the park. I like the idea of people watching for a change. Or really looking at the architecture.
