cake ideas

I've recently taken up cake making. SOOOOO fun

I've been asked to make a cake for a teacher appreciation party and I need ideas as to what the cake should be. I was going to stack rounds and make an apple. I'de use a raspberry filling maybe with a buttercream dirty icing.

What icing, cake type, and filling should I use? This is a rough idea so please if you have ANY other ideas besides an apple like a regular (2?) tier with fondant shapes like A's B's + - or whatever. Just cake ideas. any at all. I'de like alot of input.

I am not a teacher but an apple cake sounds a little "corny" to me.....sorry.

I am going to venture a guess that you watch "Ace of Cakes" and "Cake Boss", right?

I am partial to a bouquet of flowers maybe? Something really pretty. It is for teacher appreciation so something that says "thank you". Maybe a greeting card?

Sounds like FUN!!!
