I live in Puerto Rico and we are getting ready for hurracane Ana..

The gobernor of Puerto Rico said Ana become a storm depresion but we are expecting alot of rain. Is passing at the south of the island where I live and the emergency deparment is ready. School is not cancel yet, so that's mean they expect hurracane Ana became more weak.

First of all, Ana is not a Hurricane. Actually it has been downgraded from Tropical Storm to Tropical Depression, which means maximum sustained winds are less then 39MPH. It is expected to go back up to Tropical Storm for a day or two, and then downgrade to TD again. There is no expectation for it to develop Hurricane-force winds.

Second, If you are living in a storm-prone area you should have a bookmark for http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ which is the National Hurricane Center and learn the graphs.

And third, this is very for this forum.

Sorry, Cheshire Figment

I did not post this to bother you or anybody on this forum, but I just want to let everybody know about the storm becoming weaker. Since I been reading Disers becoming worry about this TS and there is nothing to worry about.

And, yes I do know about the graph at the National Hurricane Center, even do I been living here just for 4 years after living in the US for 25 yrs, I did my research.

If there was a hurricane, I think theme park forum would be an okay forum for posting as would many others. The OP said the storm was weakening. I don't think it is necessary to respond in such an negative manner.

Thank you for posting this. I know many people with upcoming trips (like me) are watching the hurricane and storm forecasts. I would think this is the correct place to post unless there is a weather board that I don't know about Glad to hear this one has weakened. Hopefully it will not be too much rain for you

The OP said in her post that it was declared a depression. There have been several posts on this board worrying about whether or not Ana will ruin their vacation. It was obvious to me that her post was an effort to assure the other posts that it would weaken. It could have been posted to the other Ana thread but I don't think it is off topic at all.

Hi marimario I just wondered if you have ever been to the stormcarib website? A lot of us look at it for direct reports from the islands being affected by systems, and they are always looking for people to be special correspondents and post about what is happening before and after storms (so we know what we might expect if something is headed our way):

http://stormcarib.com/

(Look at the right side at island reports)

Wow! Thanks for the response Negative Nancy. It always amazes me how people lose their manners behind a computer screen.

OP, good luck and I hope you remain safe. We're keeping an eye on Bill. It's still early but if you wait til the last minute here, stores are like ghost towns. Supplies are nonexistent.

Thanks OP for the info and good luck if/when Bill arrives.

I have a feeling this one may make a bigger nuisance of itself
