Best way to book cruise

What is the best way to book a cruise. AAA, Costco, Disney cruise website etc? What is standard extras? Is on board credits offered?

I'm interested in the same info. Looks like the Disney website is easy to use but is it better to use a TA especially for a first time?

"Best" in what way?

The price will be the same, regardless of who/how you book. TAs can offer perks (OBCs, photo credits, bottle of wine, gift basket), but the price to you will be the same.

Not all TAs offer perks.

What's best for me may not be best for you. We use Dreams Unlimited and they offer a generous onboard credit but they are an internet based TA and communicate via email. A lot of people use Costco but they are not DCL specislist but they do offer a cash card. If there was a costco within an hour of my home then I would use them but there isn't. It really depends on what you are looking for.

Booking onboard gives a discount, room credit and smaller deposit up front. Also I believe using Disney's various credit/debit cards offers credits and/or favorable payment terms as well.

We used a large store in our city because they offered us a $500 cash card for use after the cruise. Their travel insurance is really inexpensive and they don't charge extra for the flights to the cruise because this store doesn't sell them. So we'll get $8k worth of insurance for the price of $6k.

So we'll save $600-700 by using them. Plus their customer service can't be beaten!

We booked on board in July without any TA listed. We have used two different TAs and both have been awful so that is why no TA. Since we are well past 30 days, we will be on our own for reservations, correct? We can't transfer to a TA, right? I am hoping Alaska 2015 comes out soon, and that is where we want to transfer our OBB. I want to make sure I have my plan in place. With two cruises under my belt, I will do better than our past two TAs.
