DME Without a Reservation??

OK, here's the deal

We're going next Friday to WDW for Free Dining, staying at All-Star Music and we do have a DME reservation for our initial ride there and back home.

I have to go back home for a couple of days during the trip, and for my flight home, I'll be taking Mears from the Dolphin back to the airport.

When I return a couple of days later, I was initially planning on just taking Mears back to the Swan or Dolphin, then walking to the Studios, and catch a bus back to All-Stars. (My flight lands at 9:20 pm, Studios is open till 10pm, so I'm figuring Studios buses will be running till at least 11pm)

Then I remembered someone saying that if you don't have a DME reservation at all, you can purchase a Mears ticket to any Disney resort.

So essentially, I will not have a DME reservation for this 2nd trip. Will I be able to take a Mears directly to All-Star Music?? (Or Saratoga Springs, if we decide to do something late at Downtown Disney??)

Just an FYI, I will have no luggage for this trip home and back. As we will be bringing everything the first time, and I don't need anything at home that I'm taking to WDW with me except for the Blackberry and my wallet.

Also, if that all fails and I'm delayed somewhat, what is the closest hotel on Hotel Plaza Boulevard to DTD?? I know I can take a Mears there, walk across the street to DTD and get transportation to All-Stars very late.

I was all set to 'yell' NO! but then read your entire post - not just the title

Yes. Go to the Mears counter at the airport - there's one on each terminal/side, on level one. You can arrange transportation to Disney there. You can't do it in advance. On the other hand, what YOU may be able to do is purchase round-trip transportation from the airport-bound shuttle driver.

Another option would be to (try to) arrange this entire cycle while you're at the airport, before you head to the Welcome Center.

But, again, yes - Mears will take you to your hotel of choice. They can reasonably be expected to be aware of the DME reservation requirement and expect walk-ups.

So far smooth as silk. I departed my plane at 9:22 and walked all the way down to the Mears counter right next to DME and bought a 20.00 one way ticket and was sitting on a DM bus by 9:40. WeLeft the airport at 10:05. Don't know what resort order yet. He just announced 4 resorts with about 20 guests on board.
