Poly, Contemporary or GF

We are going to DW on Sept 26th and have booked a handicapped accessible room at Poly. DH is a paraplegic and a handicapped accessible room is an absolute necessity. We are going with another family that does not need such a room. Combined we have three girls, ages 4, 4, and 2. When looking at the handicapped rooms available at the Poly not one of them seems to have a good view except the LV and MK view at the Tahiti. Has anyond had a good view from a handicapped room at any of the three resorts. I am considering switching to another resort on the monorail so my DH will have a chance at a decent view as he will be in the room a lot.

Thanks - Trish

Hi, Trish,

Might want to post on the DisAbilities board - they may be able to answer your question better. You could also call resort special needs to see if they might be able help (they block a room for us): 407-939-7807 # 1

Hope this helps and have a wonderful trip!

My DW is in a wheelchair we have stayed at the Poly,WL and AKL as far as the deluxes have gone. We are staying at the Poly again in Oct. we got the MK view in the Tahati blg. we stayed stayed here before and the access to the Ticket and Transportation Center made this an excellent choice. We also loved the WL we had a courtyard view it was on the first floor and at first I was disappointed but came to love it. We had a Savanaah view at AKL the hotel was beautiful, the staff wonderful and the view of the animals was great, the only reason we wouldn't go back is the ride at the end of the day on the buses was a little too much.

It might be difficult to get an availability at one of the other resorts. The rooms are pretty much booked up. I loved our stay at the Poly but it wasn't a handicapped accessible room.

Best view we ever had was a handicapped accessible room at the Boardwalk Inn. We booked water view and had a great view of the boardwalk -- and a huge terrace (much larger than a balcony). It was nice. I see, however, that you want to be on the monorail, so BWI doesn't help.

The MK views in Tahiti are amongst the very best views in all of WDW (I would argue that they are THE best, but of course, that's subjective). Because of that, and the incredibly convenient location, they are also amongst the most expensive! Rapa Nui is a great building for it's location next to the TTC. One side faces the parking lot, but the other faces lovely gardens. I'm not sure where the accessible rooms are, but you can request to be on the opposite side from the parking lot.
