Help me be creative! 50th Anniv at Grand Floridian!
I know this is a bit off topic.. then again, it's a community board! Is anything really off topic?
![]() My siblings and I are sending my parents to the Grand Floridian for two days to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We have dinner at the castle and a private dining experience already set up for them, but I'm looking for a little something more and I'm stumped. I'd like to greet them with a gift box/basket, but I'm not sure what to put in it. I'm going to have bride and groom ears with 50 years embroidered, but other than that, I'm at a loss. We're also getting them a cake for their private dining, but I'm struggling finding an example of what I'm looking for. We could always go with the basic white fondant with gold mickey heads stamped on it, but somehow that doesn't feel celebratory enough. I want a cake that screams "Celebration!!!". I'm thinking two layers (there's 9 other family members joining us the next day, so the cake won't go to waste). I love the mad hatter type cakes, but my parents are a bit more traditional. I just don't seem to be able to find anything that catches my eye. Does anyone have suggestions either for the box or the cake? I'm open to anything since I'm totally drawing a blank!! Thanks for your help! |

Do you have a picture of their original cake? Perhaps you can incorporate that into picking a cake.

, so we're on our own. We're not even sure, without asking specific, pointed questions what they wore. They eloped and no one but the preacher and his wife were there. We tried to locate them and found they had both passed away. It's actually kinda sad to think they were all alone on their special day, you know? I really appreciate the suggestion though! |

I LOVE gift baskets!!!!!
Love the Mickey ears idea. How about champagne (or sparkling cider if they don't drink), a couple of champagne flutes engraved with their names, wedding date and anniversary date, a framed pciture of their wedding day (if there is one available), a little bride and groom Mickey & Minnie, some special food...like a decadent chocolate or something else they really enjoy, a small photo album of family photos throughout the decades...maybe you could even do it like by decades..for example The 1950's- We're married! It's bobby socks and rocking around the clock, poodle skirts and penny loafers. We're living in our 1st apartment in Town, State. Bill is a policeman and Mary is a secretary. The 1960's- We bought our first house in Town, State. Susie and Billy arrived. You get the idea....
