Guest Tranportation ? For Wedding Day

How did you get your guests from point A to point B for your wedding?
Did you get them transportation from the hotel to your wedding location?
If you had a venue that was not in the area of your wedding location-how did you get them to the reception location...

Or did you just let them walk? Bus it themselves? Hitch Hike?

Oh man - now why didn't I think of having them hitch-hike?!

We had to use buses for the ceremony because it was in Epcot. So it went:

Bus to the Ceremony

Friendship Boat to the Reception

Bus to their hotels

Bus to the Dessert Party

Bus back to their hotels

Most of our guests had never been to WDW before so I didn't want them to have to figure out how to get to the International Gateway for our dessert party on their own - especially since you can't take a direct bus between resorts, so they would have had to change buses if they came to the party from their hotels.

It would be nice to do something like Carrie for the guest...

Bus from hotel to Yacht Club for wedding (Yacht Guests walked)
Friendship boat from Yacht Club to MGM Studios for Reception
Walk from Fantasmic to RnR
Limo to Concert
Walk to Muppets Courtyard
Bus back to hotels including Yacht Club - we had buses available throughout the night for guests who needed to return to their hotels early.

Well, if your wedding and reception are all in one place, like at the Wedding Pavilion and at the Grand Floridian, you don't really need it as long as your guests can easily get to the place (like if they will all have cars or are staying there). Or if your guests are familiar with Disney and know how to get around. But it is a nice thing to do...

It is highly recommended. This is so 1.) your guests are likely to arrive at your events on time, as it's easy for first-timers, etc. to get lost on their own, and 2.) your guests can attend an event in the theme parks, which may require backstage entry.

Smile

My daughter had a Wishes wedding at the Wedding Pavilion and a reception at the Grand Floridian. Her guests many of whom were from out of town stayed at three of the Disney property hotels. They had buses pick up the wedding guests at a certain time and transported them to the Grand Floridian for the pre-ceremony cocktail reception and then to the WP for the ceremony. After the ceremony there was a bus that took everyone back to the Grand Floridian for the reception. The bride and groom drove back in a white stretch limo. This is a nice feature that you do pay for but that way you don't have to worry about how your guests will get to the wedding especially if many of them flew in and didn't have a rental car to use.
