Help! We cannot decide what to do the 1st day??
My family and I cannot decide what to do the 1st day. It's driving me nuts because we are in disney there are lots of things to do. We are just not in agreement. We should be arriving at WL by 12:30. The kids want to swim for a bit and then...
What do you other diser's do on your first day?

I usually go to Epcot and stroll around the countries and eat supper there. Sometimes we go to DD and do some shopping.

We are going to Downtown Disney for a bit and then headed to Chef Mickey's for dinner.
Then back to the resort for bed so we are rested for the parks the next morning. Have Fun!

We tend to hit the park with EMH late that day. I guess we feel like we get more time out of our ticket that way. Especially during the times when the parks close earlier.

We HAVE to see the castle...
![]() We usually get the hotel by noon, grab a quick lunch and then head to MK (but sometimes we have a lunch ADR at the Plaza to start the trip). Then we head to Toontown to see Mickey, grab a FP for something, catch the afternoon parade and hop somewhere else for an early dinner. We are generally crashed out for the night by 9pm since we have been up since 3am to catch that early flight...

If it was me arriving at 12:30, I'd get to a park right away. Any park! Whichever has the latest hours that day.
But if you want to start lounging at the pool and get an easy start, don't bother burning a day on your ticket on the first day. Downtown Disney, mini golf. Take the boat from the WL to MK. Ride the monorail just for fun. Watch the fireworks from the beach at Poly. Have fun! |

Given that your kids want to swim for a bit, maybe just have a relaxing first day and make an early night of it so you are up early and make rope drop the next day.
Swim Unpack Have dinner at Whispering Canyon. Or maybe even take the boat to the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's. Or hop the monorail for Ohanas. |

Our last trip, I think, has started a tradition for us. We check in, head to DTD, eat at TRex cafe, buy our autograph book for the trip, then in the evening go to MK to watch SpectroMagic and Wishes.
It's a GREAT kick-off to the trip. BUT, if your kids are set on swimming right when you get there, make sure you pack their swimsuits in your carry-on. (This is if you're using Magical Express). The bags will take awhile to get there!

We are going to go to the pool at our resort and then we have a late night supper at Kona! The rest of our week is booked solid until the parks close so I figured it might be our best chance to get to the pool!

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Grab some lunch at your hotel and head to a park! Or head to a park and grab some lunch there! Can't go wrong either way.
We're getting in around 11am . . . checking in, grabbing a bite to eat, and then we're going to AK. Can't wait

If we're not staying there, we usually head to the Poly for Dole Whips on the beach.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I should write them out and place in a hat and then whatever one we pick is what we are going to do. My suggestion was to go to AK, see a show and watch the parade, go on Kali and when park closes head for dinner.

We're fans of WL............
Our arrival ritual hardly varies but here goes..............We get in around 2:30pm, put our groceries and drinks away, unpack and don our swim suits and grab some beers and hit Roaring Fork for a hamburger and fries, wife and I split it and let all the travel stress wash off in the pool with the help of a few beers. We boat to CR and monorail around checking the resort shopping venues and return to the WL. We might take another dip and relax and in the evening, head by boat to FW, Crocketts Tavern, it's downstairs of the Trails End restaurant and we have our annual pizza and pitcher of beer, we wander over to the horse barn and see the horses and return to the resort, catch the EWP and turn in. Sometimes we'll boat to the MK, we usually have AP's so it's not a wasted ticket and stroll Main Street and see if we can get on Haunted Mansion or Pirates of Caribbean and shop our way out and then take a dip and hit FW. We tend to hang close to the resort, alot depends on the time of year and weather too. No matter what you do, it's all fun and you're in WDW.
