Just back from Disney World and we're engaged!

My DP and I have been together 3 years. This was her FIRST trip ever, to DW. I've been planning this for a year now. I decided around Valentines of this year, to surprise her with a ring at Disney. Being a girlie girl, I've never done this or even thought about doing this...however, this is 2009 and the rules have changed!! I got some help w/ a friend/CM. After our first full day in the park, MK, we had dinner at Artist Point, at our resort Wilderness Lodge. I got ADR's for their signature SWEETHEART'S DINNER. It was AMAZING. We had an incredible waiter, IZZY, who was very attentive to us. We were seated by the window, and given personalized keepsake menus, along w/ disney champagne flutes. Once Izzy found out this was DP's first time, he spoiled her rotten. We were each given MICKEY EARS, glow tinkerbell clip ons and she got a certificate saying she was now a PRINCESS (which is a hoot, since she's SO not that kind of girl ) It was the gesture and we loved it. After an incredible meal, we changed clothes and headed over to the Polynesian to watch WISHES from the beach. That's where my friend the CM met me. DP had NO idea. She's told me, one day she wants to take me to Italy, as that's always been her dream...she loves the language. Knowing this, I waited till the fireworks started, got up and said, "Honey, why don't you stand up so we can take some pictures", she was thinking, WHY? They ARE fireworks, up in the sky, hello? I finally convinced her to get up and my friend rushed over, grabbed my camera and took pictures. I got down on one knee and said in ITALIAN, "Christy, vorresti sposamari" which is Italian for, "Christy, will you marry me?" It was amazing. She said yes and we're planning a small intimate gathering Oct 9, 2010 and yes, we're honeymooning in DISNEY WORLD!!

Here is the video my friend made. I'm so happy, just wanted to share w/ fellow DISer's!

Hi, Chris!

Nice to see you posting on the DFTW forum!

But why didn't you tell the story about the first Italian proposal that got ruined? THAT was a funny story!

Well, SINCE you brought that up....truth be told, I WROTE the proposal in the sand, guarded it with my life for 40 LONG minutes...and out of no where, some little grandmother wearing her trusty fanny bag walks ALL the way over to where we are, bypassing ALL the rest of the beach. She steps RIGHT ontop of my propsal, and does her version of "The Twist", looks me right in the eye and says, "Oh my god, I just LOVE this sand beneath my toes" and walks off. I was sick, literally sick! Thanks for bringing that up again Rob, such a sweetie!

But it's funny! And it was better when you told the story in person and showed us how the grandma danced.

The more you get to know me, you'll find that I LOVE to tell my crazy stories. I have friends who can't wait to do lunch, so they can catch up on my "lastest" ones!!

Your right, it's always funnier in person. I was showing one of my office friends exactly HOW Granny did it, he was rolling!!
