Still Thinking............
I am still thinking about the EBTran cruise next April and not sure about which way will be the cheapest. The only cruise I have been on I used my DVC points but I am not sure that is the use of these points. I am willing to pay cash, however, is it cheaper to book thru Disney, or a travel agent (with OBC) or to take another cruise with my points to get a 10% discount? How is OBC determined and who gets them? Also can I book the cruise now then take a 4 day cruise later and transfer that booking to get the 10%?
Other questions on different topic: 1) I understand the "no tank top" rule in the dinning room but is there a rule about how much skin you can show on formal night? 2) I called Disney about the return flight back from Spain and they told me that the connecting flights would be within the states. When I did a search on expedia for flights there were very few that flew at 12:00 or later that did connections within the US. Is the 12:00 rule still what is recommended or do they book flights for you earlier than that? TIA DA |

First, book the cruise as soon as you can. When it was first announced, I booked a cat 11 room for my wife and myself, and the Disney airfare cost more than the room! Book soon before prices go up.
Travel agents will give you a small cut of their commission as an onboard credit, but it won't be anywhere near a 10% discount. Were it me, time wasn't an issue, and the 10% discount was big enough to cover the cost, I would absolutely do a four night to get the 10% off. Regarding the flight back, the 12:00 rule does NOT apply to the eastbount TA. Remember you will spend that last night at the dock in Barcelona, so you will have already arrived and already cleared customs & immigration. My plan, before I had to cancel, was to book Disney airfare but watch and see what kind of deal I could get. If I got a better deal, I would cancel the Disney airfare before final payment was due and after buying tickets. |

If you are even thinking about a TA, book it now. Prices can (and will) go up. If you do another cruise first, you can compare the price at that time and decide whether to change to a rebooking on board--that is what I did.
I booked...then the price had not gone up, so did the rebooking on board with the 10% discount on the cruise fare portion and OBC...and named a TA who gave me an additional OBC. The price of booking thru DCL directly of thru a TA are exactly the same, except that the TA may give you an onboard credit in addition to their service. Thus, I use a TA. There is no rule regarding amount of skin showing on formal night or any other night other than the "no tank tops." My DD has expressed shock at some of the attire, but everyone has his/her own definition of appropriate. As PP, I booked my air thru DCL, but will attempt to find cheaper flights on my own. If successful, I can cancel my DCL air, but at least I've locked in their prices! |

Danders2, I just sent an email off to my TA to get this booking started. I had the same question regarding the discount. In June I rebooked a dummy ressie onboard for my DD, DGD and myself. I asked my TA about using that ressie just for me to get the 10%. Well the difference is only $126. Not enough to make much of a difference - as long as you're still going solo, too. So, come on just book it and join me!
