So many choices how do you decide?? Advice?
We have been to Disney for a long time but it's been a few years since we were there so with a trip coming next May we are already planning! In the past we have stayed at the All Star Sports and had a great trip, the Port Orleans - kind of a dirty room but otherwise o.k., Coronado Springs another great trip. I've read some less than stellar reviews of All Star Sports lately so we are definitely planning to take that off of the table. I don't see the Deluxe hotels being in our budget so that leaves some choices:
Coronado Springs Port Orleans French Quarter (will we be disappointed - does it need a refurb?) Universal Hotels (I know crazy but it's been a thought... if we could manage to stay off property) Renting Points... we've never thought about that before but hearing some of the podcasts talk about how easy it is, makes me think maybe I should consider it as a way to get a more deluxe experience without spending so much money. Anyone faced a similar decision? What did you decide? What made you make that choice?? Thanks! |

We went to All Star sports last year and they were remodeled rooms. Carribbean was nice. Universal hotels a little expensive for my taste.

We used to do monorail resorts when the kids were younger and we had a little more leeway with what we spent on our resort. Now that the boys are in college, finances are stretched and we've been so very happy at our moderate that we've stuck with it seven of our last eight stays. Our eighth stay at our moderate is next month for a mini-trip and then, because it is a mini trip, next year we are going to splurge a little bit (hopefully) and do four nights at the AKL and then the last five nights back at the CSR (our moderate of choice). The AKL is one of the cheaper deluxes (along with the WL...but we don't care for the WL at all so we don't want to stay there) and we both love animals and have wanted to stay there since it opened. I'd figure out what your budget is and then narrow it down from there. The only problem you'll have with Universal is you won't get the option of ME, extra magic hours, the dininig plan (if offered), etc. For us, the extra magic hours and the dining plan are very important.
