Am I the "crazy cat lady"??

Uh, how many cats can one have before they are classified as the crazy cat lady?

I have 3 adult cats that are indoor/outdoor and are around 10 years old.

Wednesday night I went to a BBQ at a friends house and came home with a kitten .

I am guessing he is about 12 weeks old and was definitely a stray. He was soooo hungry (and skinny) that he almost took my finger off when I gave him a piece of chicken at the bbq.

The host of the bbq has 2 very aggressive weiner dogs that would be happy to eat the kitten .

My DS 13 became instantly attached and the rest is history.

We stopped at the store and bought kitten chow and some toys.

He uses the litter box very well and likes the other cats BUT they DO NOT like him. I'm hoping that changes.

Taking him to the vet next week for shots and check-up and to discuss neutering.

Gosh I am a sucker for a cute kitten!!

Well if you are the crazy cat lady then I am the insane one since I have 6 presently under my roof, and am feeding 1 stray (it was 2 strays up til 2 days ago) I also take in my dad's 2 cats on most days. And I am consistently looking at other kittens either at Petsmart or at the SPCA!....As long as you can afford them then the more the merrier! Your older cats will adjust it will just take a little time. Good luck with the new addition!

Yeah you are definitely not the crazy cat lady... My best friend has at least 6 cats, 2 dogs a baby and a husband.... She's the crazy cat lady... and I love her.

I will join the Crazy Cat Lady club as well. I have 4. I really don't know how it happened either, LOL. They just seem to adopt me and I can't resist. I really think I'm done, since this last one had to have nearly all her teeth removed and cost me a lot of $. I told my mom to smack me if I mention getting any more cats. Oh, and I found out I am allergic AFTER getting the last two, UGH!

You won't be a "real" crazy cat lady until you can't afford your basic necessities because you do without to feed your cats, and let their hygiene go out of control - no clean litter boxes, etc.

I personally limit to three because any more than that seems excessive to my personal circumstances and tolerance for animals in my house. I have a dog, too, though!

If you are, I am too!

I have 5 cats. I always tell people that I didn't intend to have 5, but we had2 and moved to a much larger house where it seemed like we didn't have any pets since we had so much new space. So, we got a 3rd. And, then a few years later, I volunteered to nurse/foster a litter of 5 motherless 5 day old kittens. 3 of them didn't make it (my aunt is a vet and was supervising them constantly and they were with her then...it's very common, called "fading kitten syndrome" due to lack of mother's milk...they were only 2 oz. and less than 10 days old when they died but it was very sad...and VERY hard work to nurse and foster 5 newborn kittens!!). Well, the other 2 were robust and healthy and thrived and we got ATTACHED. So, yeah, we have 5.

Did I mention my boyfriend has 2. His 2 stay here at least a week a month while he travels and when we get married next year, they'll live here every day. So, guess what that makes our cat tally in this house? 7!!!!! ACK!

And yet, I am CONSTANTLY looking at kitties at the Humane Society and local cat rescues. What is my problem???

Add me to the list, we currently have 4 in the house and 1 more about to join us. She had an upper respiratory infection so has been staying with my DD. Plus we have a dog too.

Only one of this brood wasn't a stray. The oldest (non-stray) is 12, then 10, then 5, & 1. Our dog is 8 years old and we have only had her since February. Our new one is only about 10 months old.

Ummmm My mom could be that crazy cat lady. She and my aunt have:
Tabby (who used to be my cat but bonded with mom), holly, blake, grissom, dakato and kuzoooooo (all animal shelter adopties). They also have bosco (neighborhood stray turned pet) and bandit (caught in a box trap) whenever I am on vacation or out of town. So there a 6-8 cat household.

Ok, good to know that I'm not full-blown crazy yet!!

We haven't really picked an official name yet. He is dusty gray with white socks and his nose is white on the right side and gray on the left. He has pretty big ears too! Mighty cute.

My Mom is the crazy cat lady

She has 8 cats at her house...
Another 5 cats on her vacant land- 2 hours away. She lets them live in her old camping trailer when she bought a new one.

Plus, she feeds another 10 or so strays on her property.

Each spring she finds kittens and can't give them up. She tries to find homes for them.

During the winter months, she drives out there every few days to change the litter and feed the cats. Forgot to add she also, has to switch the propane tanks so the cats have heat.

And she wonders why she doesn't have any money

anyone with a cat is crazy, now it is just a question of your gender...?

Heheheheheheee just kidding.

I actually housed one for a few months, for a friend, and most the time it was kind of cute. It boxed our dog's nose and puked on the back of our couch, often.

Congratulations on your new family member. Please keep the kitten quarantined until the vet checks it out. There are many things your other kitties could catch, especially since this one was a stray.

We live next door to "Crazy Cat Lady" and you are not quite there.

She has 8 cats inside her very small home, along with 2 small dogs, one large dog, and one unemployed 50 yr. old son.
They feed about 10 stray cats which after they eat at her home, they stroll on over to our yard and poop in our sandbox! I can't tell you how much I hate this!!!

We currently have 4 cats and I would definitely add more if a cat happened upon us. I don't mind being the crazy cat lady.
