Ready to take the plunge!! Is this Christmas still possible??

DH & I are in the process of joining DVC!!! I am so happy!!

I have always wanted to see Disney at Christmas and I was wondering what my chances would be to get a studio for Dec 19-16??

In our experience, the heat no so much the crowds of summer have been the hardest thing to put up with on Disney vaca. We got there for rope drop, did the big deal rides, got fast passes and never waited longer than 15 minutes for anything. But the heat and humidity nearly killed us! especially DS(7)

Is there anyone out there who feels the same about weather and crowds who can tell me what it is like that week?? AND can we even get a room now???

Thanks!!!
B & fam

Don't get discouraged. Call and check for availablity. You never know. You might get lucky (you can always do a slip stay at two resorts. The cm will help you!). Where are you buying? BLT? We own at SSR but was able to book AKL for 12/27-1/2 at 7 months. Since you aren't going when school is out and around a holiday, you might get a room. Here's wishing you luck and congratulations on your purchase. Welcome Home!!!!!

ps. Call everyday and check availablity. Rooms and resort ressies change all of the time. That is what I do.

Ask your guide to check availability for you when you make your purchase, I've heard of a few stories where the guides have been able to make it happen to complete a sale. Good luck!

Agreed! Audrey pulled this little bit of "magic" off for me at the end of last August when I bought in. Kids and I stayed 5 nights SSR starting New Years Eve.

Call your guide asap and let him/her know what you'd like. They can hold a room for a certain amount of time - not sure if it was 24 hours or 3 days. After all the paperwork is done they'll transfer you over to membership services to confirm the reservation under your membership number - only you can do this final step, but they'll make it easy.

It's really not reliable. Only a small # of people report to it when they fail to get a reservation.

Are you buying direct or resale? If it's direct, the guide could help and you could make reservations as soon as you make your deposit. If it's resale, you have to wait until closing and a guide would not help.

Just curious - what size villa did you get at 7 months and is it Jambo or Kidani - I called at 9am at the 7 month mark for 12/27-1 /1 and could not get a 2BR SV at Kidani and am still on the waitlist. Of course you can only WL for one room type so it does limit the possiblilty of it coming through. I am already on a waitlist for THV for the same dates so could not do both resorts at AKV and really only want savannah view.

It is meant to give you an idea based upon the experience of the person(s) posting the info at the time of their call to MS for specific dates/resort so it doesn't mean there is a good deal of availability ( or not ). Also, checking DVC resorts through CRO would not give you an answer on availability either because cash and points inventory are separate. If you're buying direct through Disney your guide may be able to make some magic happen. If resale, you can call MS as soon as your contract is in system and give it a shot, you've got nothing to lose & you can waitlist. It's possible you may be successful if you're willing to be flexible and not particular about resort & villa type or even doing split stay between more than 1 resort but it is very popular time of year with members.

Best wishes

I'd have to say that it's really not reliable at all. Availability can change from minute to minute as someone books and another person cancels. Plus with sales at AKV, BTL and SSR(THV), more villas could become available as they are sold and more inventory is declared.

If you buy directly from Disney, your guide may be able to work a little magic for you, but it may not be the resort you have your heart set on. You'd be better off buying in when possible, and booking in Jan 2010 for Dec 2010 at your home resort and getting what you want and when you want it.

Yellowstone was amazing and is a lot more inviting than Disney right now. Could we be selling it all in the near future? Maybe.

We are totally flexible on resort. And we would split it between 2 if we need to.

We only have points for studio level rooms, so we have to keep to that, but the important thing is that we get to see Disney at Christmas!

I am finalizing everything tomorrow, so I hope my guide can sprinkle some pixie dust on our ressie!

talk with your guide. Ask him about availability for your dates that you want. When we bought a little over a year ago. We had a reservation when we agreed to buy in, as we tried to get in nov.

If its a deal breaker let the guide know about it.
Sometimes they can find a room.

We got a studio at Jambo with a savannah view. We did have to waitlist.
