Do Wop Diddy--the oldies station I listen to plays it all the time and my 10 year old nephew loves it, so much that he sang it in a karaoke night on our cruise last month. He also loves "The Lion Sleeps Tonight".

My kids (10 and 12) lovs music and listen to a lot that is from my childhood or even before I was born.

Things that predate me that they love:

Buddy Holly. DD12 has a couple of albums and likes all the music. Everyday is her favourite

The Beatles (again lots and lots of songs here)

Johnny B Goode

Rockin Robin

La Bamba

Great Balls of Fire

From my past they love:

Bow Wow Wow's version of I Want Candy

Dead Man's Party (Oingo Boingo)

Tons of things by Micheal Jackson

Danny's Song (Loggins and Messina)

Pooh Corner (also Loggins and Messina)

Lots of Queen

Rio (Duran Duran--probably because my son's name is Rio)

Burnin' Down the House (Talking Heads)

lots and lots more but those popped into my head right away. DS loves music (and a huge variety of it) more than just baout anyone I know

DS14 wanted to download some songs from this great new band he heard, AC/DC. I laughed-they aren't new.

Thanks to the Wii (and DH teaching ds11 the guitar), my kids are big AC/DC fans - dd6 does an amazing Highway to Hell!

Both of our girls love ABBA, mainly due to the movie Mamma Mia.
They also love Jimmy Buffett, Duran Duran and their favorite right now is Journey, especially Don't Stop Believin' thanks to Rock Band.

Our 4 year old goes crazy singing Dancing Queen in the car when it comes on! We had to get ABBA Sing Star since she didn't know much on Rock Band. It's hilarious to listen to her belt it out at the top of her lungs.

DS20 likes things from Pink Floyd, The Who, Rush. He just went to the AC/DC concert.

He was quite surprised when we were in a store and music started over the PA system. After the first few notes, mom identified the song as "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. He was shocked that I knew that . Um, yeah, I was young once, too.

We live near Cincinnati and I drove past the venue for the Jimmy Buffet concert and the parrot heads have scarred my 9 year old for life! I think it was the older man wearing the grass skirt and coconut bra. Meanwhile she dressed up Ozzy Osbourne for Halloween last year.

My 8yo is very into music. Her favorites are...

Anything by Duran Duran (my all times fave band and I may have had a *tiny* bit to do with this )

Billie Jean by Michael Jackson
Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard
Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar
Nobody's Fool by Cinderella (she is actually learning this one on the guitar)
Don't Know What You Got Til It's Gone by Cinderella
Don't Stop Believin' by Journey

She is definitely a rock and roll baby!

My DS discovered Heart over the summer and just bought the Dog and Butterfly album for his IPOD. I think he has more music from the 60's, 70's and 80's downloaded than current stuff. He also loves jazz and has lots of that on there too.
