Question Sticky Problem - how to get gum off a puppy?

DD8 had lunch with my mom yesterday and was presented with a roll of bubble tape. I don't like bubble gum and rarely allow it, especially unsupervised, but this got past me. Last night she went to sleep and put it on her headboard

*** ahem... okay, all together now... everybody say... EWWWWWW ****

anyway, her tiny papillion puppy sleeps at her head and we woke up this morning to find a sticky paw, ear and spot on her chest. I always freeze gum to remove it but obviously that isn't an option this time. The small furball, being a puppy of course, is a ball of teething energy who doesn't stay still for long - she definitely wouldn't like the freezer...

Anybody have any puppy-safe ideas to get the considerable amount of gum on her skin off after we've scissored the fur perhaps?

Peanut Butter? It works on human hair.

I was going to say Peanut butter as well. Or you can try freezing it with an ice cube and breaking it off. That works on carpet.

Can you trim it off? It's not like the other puppies will make fun of him at school if he has a silly hair cut for awhile.

Oh, don't cut her hair. Peanut butter will "melt" or dissolve the gum. Easy! Good luck.

I'm not a big fan of the bubble tape either but my husband is such a pushover. Our teddy is a big fluffball right now and got some gum from who knows where stuck in his fluff a few nights ago. We just cut it out. It was definitely a 2 man job.

Too funny! I love it!

We've trimmed the easily removeable hair but she really enjoyed herself last night while we were sleeping so there's probably more on her skin than in her hair. The leg and paw is the worst of it, gum stuck in between her toes poor thing. Of course the fact that her coat hasn't grown in yet so she doesn't have much hair doesn't help. I was thinking maybe peanut butter or mayonaise, even hair conditioner perhaps, but since we rarely do gum at home, thankfully that's one laundry problem I don't have every day and just wasn't sure what might work best.

Don't do this! I remember using olive oil on my dog when he had gum stuck in his hair.

I just have one question. Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight?

I have no answer as I have 2 cats, but I have to say that the title of this thread made my day! Thank you! (And the cats thought it was pretty funny, too!)
